    Need A Woman's Input

Women cry for 16 months of their lives

Women spend the equivalent of 16 months of their lives crying, according to a new poll.
    7:00AM BST 12 Aug 2009

Researchers found that between birth and the age of 78 a woman will cry for more than 12,000 hours, for reasons including hunger as a baby to falling out with a partner when older.

During their first year they will shed tears for three hours a day when they need changing, feeding or entertaining.

When they grow older, teenage girls cry for approximately 2 hours and 13 minutes a week and by their mid 20s they will cry for as much as 2.24 hours a week after falling out with their partner, watching a soppy film or losing a loved one.

Kathryn Crawford of TheBabyWebsite said: ''It is unsurprising that young children cry as a direct result of having accidents.

''Despite a parent's best efforts to childproof the home, being more adventurous goes hand in hand with a child's natural development.
''As a child grows older they will naturally try to do more and more – this means being more physically active and so having accidents are more common, but also pushing the boundaries and being more naughty.''
Between the ages of one and three years of age children cry for up to 2 hours and five minutes a day.
Their main reasons for crying include falling over, hurting themselves and feeling tired.
And between the ages of four and 12 years old children continue to cry for 2 hours and 11 minutes a week.
Children in this age bracket are most likely to cry after hurting themselves, being told off for doing something naughty or feeling poorly.
Most common causes of upset for teenagers include hormones, arguing with friends, being dumped and being grounded.
For women aged 19 to 25, who cry for 2 hours and 14 minutes a week, a soppy film, indecisions about a long-term relationship and losing a loved one are all enough to make them wail.
And for women aged 26 and over, who also cry for 2 hours and 14 minutes a week, the most common causes for an emotional outburst include falling out with a partner, hearing someone else's bad news and feeling tired.

Statistics and studies are for the birds. 3000 people is nowhere near a large enough sample size for the U.S. let alone worldwide to come to any reasonable hypothesis. Or maybe it is enough...

Some women were probably too busy crying to respond to this -- maybe if it had some great and sad music to swell at just the most dramatic moments the rest of them would have been crying too! On the other hand, maybe there are some who can type while crying. After all they are known for multi-tasking and apparently for crying too, so it stands to reason that some of them might have been crying while reading this very article about women crying! Careful not to get caught in the feedback loop and morph into another dimension.
