Mexican food =/= Spanish food =/= TexMex food

The tacos that you are most likely thinking of are of the texmex variety. Here's some real tacos:

    Spanish food is from Spain.
Mexican food is from Mexico with
    a heavy Spanish influence, but
to my taste buds both are great.

    I love Mexican enchaladas, tacos,
    mole and huevos rancheros.

Greek, Italian, Chinese are fine with me also.

Finally someone realizes this. Spanish meats are very good. The rest of the food tends to be a little bland compared to American cuisine, but it is still very tasty and i would eat it 7 days a week if I could.

Spanish food is not mexican food. They have similar tastes, but not nearly the same.

Yah, but I think alot of Americans are geographically challenged. Mexican food is from Mexico. The "Mexican" food that most Americans are familiar with isn't Mexican food at all; it's called Tex-Mex. Food from the Dominican Republic or any other country in that region would be classified as Caribbean, and is pretty similar to Louisiana cuisine (with the exception of coconut being added to Caribbean dishes). And, of course, Spanish food is from Spain. All very tasty, though.

South American food is also good.
    Ecuador: Fritada & yapingachos
    Colombia: bandeja piasa
    Peru: lomo saltado

Are just a few dishes that come to mind

I agree. The only difference I noticed was that the Mexican restaurant in my hood, uses yellow rice and the spices maybe a little bit difference. All the Dominican spots I been to, use white rice only. Maybe its just a NY. I never even see tacos in the Mexican restaurant.

Here's the typical Costa Rican dish, called a 'casado' (which is also the same word for being married). Is there any coincidence that the word for 'handcuffs' and 'wife' is the same in spanish?

    Catalan food is the best:
    Botifarra amb mongetes seques:

Pa amb tomata (bread with spread tomato):

From REAL spanish food, Tortilla de patatas (omelette with potato+onion) is so f*cking awesome:

We do have a couple relatively authentic Mexican spots were it is mostly takeout, but they have like 3 and a half tables in there as well. We also have a few franchises of those restaurant chains that do more Tex-Mex.
