I use Norton too. It works fine for me; but the guy who fixed my computer recommended Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 and this guy knows his stuff.

Avast is very good, but I think the best free is AVG anti-virus. AVG Anti-Virus Free is a full-fledged antivirus and antispyware tool, includes an email scanner, link scanner, scheduled scanning options, automatic updates, and more. There is no need to pay for an antivirus program

I have used Avast for 3 three years without problems, free and it works. I prefer Avast to AVG, less obtrusive, at least when I last tried AVG. I also run Spybot about once a month, also free.

u can get all virus protection for free with torrents.. or if u want a legal way.. then goto http://slickdeals.net and search for antivirus and then buy one of the dozens being offered for 30-60$ with 30-60$ mail in rebate = FREE

    enjoy

I like AVG also. Fed, I don't know anyhting about the link scanner. Do I have it with the free AVG 2011? or is it a separate download. I assume it's something you recommend. Any downside to it? thanks.

MSE Microsoft Security Essentials, there is no need to pay for antivirus software these days unless you go to tons of shady warez sites or something or download attachments from unknown people in your email. Also get Malwarebytes, it is free as well, there is also a pay version with some more advanced features. You can torrent the more advanced one if you want it, or actually pay for it if you like it.

Avast Antivirus...best thing is it's free. Don't bother with McAfee or Norton...bloatware garbage that slows down your PC. I work with computers so I've tried a lot of software.

Unlike most free AV's, it has realtime Internet/File/Network/IM shield's etc. Most people I have recommended this software to have never got a virus again.

Antivir is another good option but you have to pay for the full version.

For spyware, Malwarebyte's Anti Malware is a great free option.

I use AVG, never has let me down, although I almost never get viruses anyways. Norton and most antivirses just slow down your computer when its un-needed.

i also run this weekly as well as superantispyware. have spybot search and destroy. if you find you are picking up too many tracking cookies(eg chrome is terrible for this) the you may want to use firefox and explore some of the add-ons specific to internet safety

norton 360 = no problems EVER

everyone i know that uses norton has never had a virus/crash/etc, and on the flip side almost everyone i know that doesn't has problems.

it's those tech guys' fault - they tell everyone norton slows the system down just so they get repeat business

This... Comodo is a one stop shop and it has a free version as well.

Second in line would be Avast - it is very good as well.

The clown that said get a Mac doesn't keep up with technology much I guess...
