Unlucky. Depends on situation, if its AA heads up your normally going to win 8 out of 10 times. Just plain unlucky. I had the same dominating cards and lost to ace 3 bud and know the feeling.

Change your strategy. Instead of betting until the river push all in pre-flop, only hands like QQ, KK etc... that you dominate might call. The last thing you want is to have someone call you with 65 suited and hit a monster hand.

This all depends on the situation of course, but aces are not sure winners.

the trick is definitely isolating it down to 2 or 3 handed and then pushing again on the flop to not let anyone improve their hand.

couldnt tell you how to win with qq to save my life though.

obviously im not going to fold AA but i lose it every time

i dont want to push all in pre flop cuz then everyone just folds. IF the flop comes and then go all in, im already beat, or ill be winning and they will Flush on the river.

99 just won on a River Flush against AA a second ago as well....both all in pre flop

and now i just beat KK with TJ....hit trip 10s on flop. Im not sure odds on that, but comon its crazy how the losing hand wins most of the time

The KK did miss the flush by 1 card though, first time that has happened. Usually it hits!

the key is not to fall in love with them they are the best pre flop so play them like the nuts only pre flop after the flop alls you got is top pair treat it like that and youll be fine

Just went out way early against stevenash who didn't even know what he had. AA he limps I re raise big he calls. J53 flop two diamonds he bets mini I raise huge he calls. Turn 6 I bet huge he calls, river 4. He had 76 and said he had an open ended lol. He had a gutter and obv has me covered, so sick.

That's poker just hadn't played in a while, finally got a seat and get sucked out hard.

AA is good pre flop. With QQ on the flop there is a very high chance of losing. just saying...

Well obv, given you had QJ, yes.

But when you think about it a bit more, there are only 2 cards in the deck that can beat me there.

And when the club fell on the turn (where I had the Ac), there was no way I could let it go. Sure I could have tried to check turn but I would lost all value if the club fell and also given myself a real hard decision if a club did not fall.

Again, only protecting against 2 cards.

Lastly, IMHO, calling a re-raise out of position against one player with QJ off, is not generally a positive EV play. If there were more people in the pot, then you would have had the odds to call and hit as you did.

Just my opinion. Either way. Good luck in future.

my theory is that AA never seems to hold up to anything.

it has to be like 1-7 since the last 3 days from what ive seen. The only time i saw it win was when i had 69.

SIDE NOTE: it was very fun playing with you all today! I lost all my betpoints but remember this!

if your playing poker make sure to let people call to catch on the river to beat you! Its what poker is all about. You must be nice and lose hands to opponents catching on the river, its what i always do!!!

There are many good poker books out there and many top poker players have similar thoughts about AA. AA will beat a hand like 22 most of the time, but the time it beats it, it will most likely beat it small. When 22 beats AA against many players the amount of the win will be big. An example of this is when you both see a flop for cheap. If 22 misses AA takes the pot down right there most of the time, but if 22 hits and wins most players will pay their whole stack to 22. You have to do the math on the hands and make sure you are not giving your opponents the right price to play against you. Also you have to be able to decide if AA is good as the hand progresses.

Many times in NL play hands likes AA and AK play very well preflop and on the flop, but most players will lose big by the river. The ideal way to play these hands for the most part is to win the hand when it is strongest, on the flop or preflop. By the time the river hits a lot of the time top pair/1pair will probably not be good when the money is all in the middle.

In these tournaments the money goes in a lot faster for the most part so you should be able to get the money in when your hand is good. If you are not it's either because you're not lucky or because you are giving your opponents to good of a price to see cards.

Yeah, the problem with AA is you only usually cash big when someone else has AK/KK/QQ, which obviously doesn't happen too often.

There are times I think I'd rather have an off-suited deuce/seven then to have pocket aces
