No Rake: How Can We Do It?

It seems to good to be true—how can we offer no-rake poker? Why aren’t other sites doing it? What’s the catch? The answers are actually quite simple.

Most online poker sites have a single revenue stream: collecting upwards of 5% out of every winning pot. In today’s growth-driven industry, it’s simply impossible for them to reduce, let alone eliminate, their single source of income. World Poker Exchange, however, has many sources of revenue, including World Sports Exchange, one of the most successful sportsbooks on the Internet. We’re confident that no-rake poker will deliver major new traffic to our other businesses, including sports wagering, in-running betting, horse racing and casino wagering.

Now, with 100% of the rake being rebated to your account every week, you’ll only have to worry about outfoxing the other players at your table, rather than having to beat the house as well. This will give all our players a much greater opportunity to achieve a net profit at the tables and will allow them to save hundreds, if not thousands, of dollars a month. We can’t think of any better way to mark World Sports Exchange’s tenth year in business.

We believe poker should be a fun, free service available to all our customers, rather than a means to “rake” them over the coals. With the advent of No-Rake Poker, World Poker Exchange is now the only place where it truly pays to play.

How will pinny poker match this? LOL.............I dont think they have many on the site yet but i predict that will change...........they will probably suck in thousands to join than start charging a rake.

There's been some (actually alot of) discussion about bots being used on this site on other poker forums.. (not sure if cross posting is alowed here but if you just go to the internet section on twoplustwo and you will easily find it) Not making any judgements but with full tables all the the way up to 10/20 limit all the time and the highest no limit game that has full tables is the .1/.25 it does look kindof supsicious to me... Also after watching the play at the 10/20 game for about 15 minutes it does look very mechanical... Again, not passing judgement, but I'm going to sit this one out for awhile, as I multitable NL games anyway, and there little to no action in the NL games... Just a FYI to proceed with care...

Also, you have to think about what type of players will be attracted to the no rake, and what kind of players aren't going to leave the big players (such as pokerstars and partypoker) for these kind of promotions... My guess is the kind of players you want to play with probably never have even stopped to think about how much they are losing to rake (or the fact that might not be a losing player if there wasn't rake...) Just my two cents...

You're probably thinking of RakeFree. Mismanagement resulted in ruined investors and reputations. Remember Dutch Boyd? It was his baby.

If you play your bonuses right, most online poker sites are rakefree anyway. I prefer to play at UB, because I like the software. But with their bottomless reload bonuses, it basically pays the rake. Someone did the math once on this, and I can dig it up if prodded, maybe. My point is that advertising "rake free" isn't a really huge deal, especially if there aren't any other bonuses.

I like the WSEX model: Using the poker room as a non-profit extension of the sportsbook, rather than having a sportsbook be one unit in an online casino. I think too many sportsbooks overextend themselves trying to make money in every direction. If you are a sportsbook, know your business, cater to sportsbook type customers and if that means a rake free poker room, then so be it. I wish I had more time to check out WSEX, but I think it'll be on my shortlist of books I want to check out in the future.

slack this might be true for the recreational players, but i often pay more than 3k a month in rake....i can't see UB paying out 3k a month is reloads (prob tag me as a professional or something..or bonus abuse)........guess i'd have to see the math on it and work it out......best i've found is rakeback which gives about 30%. , your probably right though if you bonus whore you probably would play rakefree (bonuswhores.com) gives a pretty lucrative example of this. I generally dont like jumping site to site to much though. I still think its a bit of a deal @ wsex though ....being a reputable book and all. I think if pinnacle cameout with this people would be talking about it all over.

Wow, scotty, what limits do you play?!

I'm not a professional at all, and probably play 10 hours a week maximum.

Last month UB had well over $1k in reloads, and I've got almost $3k bonus cash in my UB account. At my current rate, it would probably take me over a year to work that off.

You're right about bonuswhores.com. I hit half the sites on there and cleared the best bonuses, but I'm like you, I hate keeping track of a half dozen sites and knowing what hoops I have to jump through to clear a bonus. Now I just stick with UB because their software seems the fastest for me on a slow dialup connection and a computer that's a little low on RAM. I like Paradise also, but UB just has a better feel for me. It just seems like the games move faster on there than anywhere else. 60 hands per hour at a full table is much much better than 40 for me.

that is a lot of rake, such a site must make lots of sense for you, personally....if i rake $500 a month, thats a lot of play for me, i just dabble. i would be scared of who and what is playing on a rake free site.
