Doug, I will disagree with your statement. This format would reward skill versus luck, only if you rewarded 1st place with the direct seat into the main WSOP tourney.

However even though Jake or someone else might run away with the daily tourney's with 6000 pts difference, in the end he will sit in a tourney with 50 players, with the same chance to win, even with #50.

And what happens if no.49 with less than 1000pts. total wins the final, (which probably be a super turbo all-in shove and pray festival). It definitely will not have skill rewarded.
    spider is right

you cant do this just for first place over 3 months but i would prefer seeing something like top 50

5 satellites 1-10 11-20 21-30 31-40 41-50 then reward 10 spots for the final then the winner of the final gets the seat, this will be 5 bbs each for a shot at the world series of poker

Congrat Jake! Keep up the good work.

I also like the idea of sending a team of SBR guys to one of the smaller tourneys....ie the $1500 deep stack.

    My seven guys would be

    Strong players:

    1. Jake peavy
    2. Jedimindpicks
    3. Shogun
    4. Downsouth

Guys that play aggressive enough to make a deep run (or bust out early)

    5. Sinmiedo
    6. Autodonk
    7. SteveK

kind of like the sports betting hedge fund....I'd be willing to throw in $1000. The backers get 75% of the winnings and the player 25%. 25% not a bad % for a free buy in.

mikejamm has a point, as in a team of sbr poker players to play the smaller events. It would spread sbr logo out more , best situation for both parties. The main event is a long shot.

Clearly Douglas hasn't seen this format in action. It's an all in fest just like the dailies. Possibly worse as you're forced to play draws or bluff more than usual to reach top 5. Slow down the damn blinds. It's not like there is a lot going on in the poker room to force games to end in 90 minutes.

The opposite side of this though is who really wants to play for potentially 3 hours a day for what amounts to very little unless you win the big prize.

exactly! top prize is around $15 so if it takes 3 hours, even if you win that's less than minimum wage! stupid

so what's doug's rating now after ~100 days in office as the poker mod. things i've noticed:

    1. he only makes an appearance once every 3 weeks or so
    2. he read the list of suggestions and implemented zero
    3. the one change he did do (even if it's at managements discretion), was change the format to kill the site

reminds me a lot of my freshman year in college and the english course i was taking. a disaster! don't know how that prof gave me a D, but he did. i certainly didn't deserve it.

So being one who really enjoyed the previous format & who has now not played since I beleive 1/5 ( I could be wrong there) is the tourney format really that bad? I mean there are 100 names on the standings so someone is playing. It's really a 3 hour tourney that adds up to $15 for winner? Was SBR just losing too many bet points to the 5 or 10 guys who really dominated the ring games? I do miss playing and getting to know some of the guys on the site. Though playing in The Main Event would be pretty cool, I think one would have to be realistic with the chance of cashing with over 8000 players. Plus the time commitment would be unreal.

Do do I need to post another half naked asian for Doug to respond??

these trnies are lasting barely longer than under the other format..... usually 1:45 to 1:50; all of my final tables ended in under two hours; one was just over an hour and a half, the others about 1:40-1:50

RIP WussyWaves -- rumor has it this format is around from now on, not just this promo........ take the buyout, WW, and save yourself the embarrassment

AD total points won in sbr poker tournaments in 2015: 2,908
Wussy total points won in sbr poker tournaments in 2015: 1,410

and for anyone dumb enough to wager on wussy, here's the tally that counts in the 2015 WussyWaves-AD year leaderboard challenge:

AD points in WussyWaves challange: 1,650
Wussy points in WussyWaves challange: 1,410

As long as it all goes back to normal after this promotion, it's all good. I just hope they werent trying to mask such a drastic change by giving out a poker seat promotion, which obviously failed if that's the case. 0% chance I renew in June if stays the same. Time will tell I guess. And good job so far, Peavy.

These tourneys are not taking 3 hours. No more than 1:40. 500 points = about $24 pizza. So that's over $14/hour.

Granted, they're poker points so that takes some time to play through.
