Thanks for the info and the work BD. I can use that - next tourney I will focus more on making in to cash and then go from there.

Nice list BD. I like the way you averaged out the points per cash.I didn't play a lot early on, probably would have made the top 50 if I had played more.

I agree. I think it should be amount net not just won, so each buyin would come out of your total points. That would make it a little more fair.

good list, think they shoulda only paid 10 spots and forced people to try to win more then just fold every day to the top 20 and try n get lucky from there.

Only one guy really did that.

Unless you played every day and were really good at picking the right tournament (with less people in it, the numbers were unpredictable for me) to play, it wasn't a viable strategy, IMO. Finishing 15-20 pales in comparison to 1-5.

Hey Yisman, I have seen you talk about that a few times and wanted to give you a counterpoint to think about.

Granted, with less players in the field, there are less people you have to beat but I would argue this:

The greater number of entrants (up to the max... 50 or 55?) allows for more chips in play which allows for more play as the later stages advance and it generally does not significantly increase the challenge of the overall tourney. If you take the same basic field of players and throw 5-10 additional random players into the player pool of one tourney, I do not think it makes it that much harder to offset the benefit of more chips in play.

Overall, I think it is really such a small difference between either pro-con scenario that it is negligible.

    Cheers!

beer, there were some tournaments that had 35 or less in them. I usually missed them because the numbers were very strange, but just logically it should be a lot easier to place top 20 in a 34 person field than in a 45-50 (50 was the max).

If someone entered a 35 or less and just stalled and stalled they could just about guarantee themselves a cash, whereas with 45+, there's no chance.

I can't play on Friday nights, but those tournaments often had under 30.

Here are the final two weeks if anyone is curious.

Sort of like Rudy with my tourney structure post, I guess we can agree to disagree.

Long and short of it, if you goal is to min-cash, stall and never go for it, then yes, the less number of players is easier to min-cash. but I do not think it is as significant as you might thing. Min-cashing was not the main area of my points. I was more trying to note players that are trying to win, having 35 or 45 in the tourney, the advantage (to having a bigger cash) of having less players is diminished because there are less chips in play.

    Cheers!

What I'm saying is that if it improves your chances to win small (15th to 20th), that should increase your EV.

What you need to do Wulf is make the Championship & finish between 10th - 25th to win pts, then pay back your overdue loan(s).
