Guess why some casinos give free drinks to their customers, it's not because they like them very much.

Same opinion, a bad idea. Usually, when myself and some friends play a game of poker, almost guaranteed the one friend that isn't drinking will win.

i would say it depends on your play if you are a bit too tight having one or two might loosen you up and give you a bit more confidence but to acctual get drunk is ushualy a bad idea although i will say i have made money drunk before but ive lost as well so its more likley to drop cash

I have to be drunk as a skunk to play in a live tournament. The game is just so slow. It is the only way I survive. Plus, I play a million times better when drunk. People don't believe it until they see me play.

I don't mind other people drinking at the table. It gives me an advantage on how to beat them. As for drinking at the table, it’s really up to the alcohol tolerance of the person. Some people drink for days without getting drunk. Some people can get a sniff of alcohol and get drunk. Some people play better drunk, some people can't control themselves while being drunk. ONLY you know yourself best.

Mixed bag, like someone else stated. One drink is enough to make idiots buy into the playing drunk routine. Splash a few chips around if you have the roll, then after you win a few/lose a few take um to the cleaners. Why will they stay? Because everyone wants to play the "Drunk" guy with a stack of chips.

like just about every other possible question you can come up with in regards to situations within poker, the answer is 'it depends'.

terrible idea. experienced players can maybe have a couple drinks without donking everything off in 30s. but remember that poker is a game that requires tremendous focus. Does he continuation bet? betting patters? hand history? what does he open preflop with? how does position affect his play? You need to know all these questions for all 9 other players at the table. Drinking limits your ability to do this. you can just play abc poker at table. but abc poker doesnt win. to be successful at poker you really need to study your opponents. drinking limits your ability to remember their patterns.

Just cus you have a few beers does not turn you into a donk. Now, if you're drunk, that's a different matter.

I can't enter a tournament without smoking a joint. The thought of spending several hours at the tables without this enhancement would be torture. Being an addict already, of course, is why I would lose patience and play terribly if I were not able to get comfortable first. However, if I were not an addict, of course, playing while high would cause me to play worse ( probably while thinking I was playing better ). Similarly, playing on a beer or two makes me enjoy the experience more and loosens me up a little ( which isn't a bad thing since I have a tendency to play too tight in a lot of situations ). Now, if I were a poker pro, I might force myself to be disciplined and play straight because that is obviously the way the best decisions will be made over the long run. (And, over the course of the last 8 years I have been supplementing my income via poker. However, for the last two I have not been getting anywhere.) But, playing as a non-pro means you must enjoy playing. If you don't enjoy playing without a little happy juice, then go ahead and drink a little. If you are getting drunk and losing your ass too often, you have other problems and probably are not interested in anybody else
    s advice.
