One program offers $150,000 in housing renovation money and requiring only $1,000 down to police officers who are willing to relocate to the city. Another offers college graduates $2,500 to rent and $20,000 forgivable loan to buy properties.
Potential home buyers can choose from plenty of cheap or free homes, especially in the blighted neighborhoods of Woodward Ave. and Brush Park.

Sorry, that was a kind of funny. In some cities this may be true but not in D. In reality, if this house were on valuable land inside another city, it would be worth demolishing.

Where these homes are located thats the reason why they look like this. You could fix it up and TRY and sell it for a million but where these houses are located nobody would buy them. Detroit is a beautiful city, funniest thing I heard all day.
like any city.. it can be.. it has it's up and downs.. but i love the D.. had a lot of fun in the D... got scared a few times in the D.. learned a lot in the D..

I'm sure there are still parts of Detroit that are really nice, but you have to admit the city isn't what it once was. Detroit really got hit hard when the auto industry fell into trouble. It's a shame really.
Detroit is a wonderful city. The media does shun it greatly. Come on out and decide for yourselves. Catch a Wings/Lions/Tigers game. I encourage it before you judge it.

My father is about to do it. My man was a guinea pig for the last 5 years on multiple surgeries, you see those commercials on tv about the faulty Depuy hip plant? He was a lucky recipient of one so they had to take it back out, lawsuit pending...
Now the doctors in ohio wont give him his pain meds because they say the meds are so dangerous, which they are, that it is a liability for the doctor since he also uses marijuana. I understand it from the doctors view but its bullshit he can't get his meds. Luckily he is from Michigan and only a few hours a way so moving shouldn't be a big problem.

Detroit is coming back strong. No more Kwame, Bing is a good business man and has shown great leadership as a mayor. Th auto industry is starting to get going again. Detroit actually produced more jobs than alot of major cities just recently. Anyone with extra cash, should really look at those houses as an investment. Put a couple k into fixing it up and u will surely at the minimum double ur money if not triple it between 5-7 years.

those house's are beyond fixing up a D8 dozer is what is needed and new house built.
I did some research into the value of moving in or around Detroit. According to threads I browsed on city-data.com, there's an anti-white sentiment among many blacks, on top of the really high crime rate; that's what would scare me, a degree earner, from moving there.
IS there really that many Black people?
The blacks love to see whites move to the poor areas of Detroit, they get tired of breakin into homes and finding nothing but babies and government check stubs
