The People of Egypt Won Their Freedom

So many people think of Arabs as violent in these situations. But people have now witnessed peaceful protests by millions of people bringing down a dictator in the middle east.

Saudi Kings are pissing their pants, they are next.

The Egyptian people don't want this and they will fight hard to make sure there is a government that isn't like Iran.

It's hard for people to understand that we are witnessing history. The US can not bring democracy to the middle east only the people can and we just witnessed it.

yes this is a step up. but the arrogance of mankind displayed is humiliating.

Are we to blame Karl Marx or V. Lenin for both coups in Tunisia and Egypt?

    Yep, they were really peaceful.

The people did not bring about a regime change. The usa admin decided it was time for one to suit their agenda. The new leader will be who the us admin wants, not the people of egypt.

    Let's see what happens.
The chances of Egypt morphing into a secular democracy are slim to none.

I don't think people in Egypt care about freedom. They care about getting jobs and quit being poor. When the president is a billionaire from US kickback bribes and the average guy is either unemployed or making $20 a month it's wrong.

The U.S. puts these dictators in charge. They put Mobutu in charge of Congo DR and he did the same thing Mubarak did to Egypt. Sucked the country dry and put the money in his bank account.

I think Egyptian Freedom and American freedom and democracy are two separate things. Personally, I hope that the Egyptian people choose their next leader wisely, and don't just choose the candidate that appears to be most opposite of the ousted leader.

Turns out that the Bush Doctrine was right in one respect. That if Democracy comes to the middle east it will catch like fire. It is kind of telling that the speech where Bush warns of people rising up for freedom in the presence of Mubarak himself has not been on constant loop, but I guess giving even the slightest credit to him is blasphemy in this world.

Freedom??... What freedom?.. Free to do what exactly? I think some people just had a disagreement with their government and they wanted a change. Saying they won their freedom is a huge exaggeration.

Try reading a book. People like you are teh reason our world is so f'ed up. You don't even have any power, all you do is absorb all the propaganda people like Glenn Beck and O'reilly feed you. Wake up.

Freedom from an oppressive regime. The lack of knowledge by some people is pretty amazing.

Gosh, what bs opinions! These people wanted "freedom of speech"..that is what they wanted, foremost! Then, all good things an elected democracy brings , afterwards. How many Arab countries give their citizens freedom of speech?

I understand, shockingly, that "300" gave their lives to get rid of the dictator. So that freedom came at a price.
300 lives will never see the freedom, but millions will because of their sacrifice.

Stop the hs and give the people of Egypt the respect they deserve!

God have you been brainwashed. Instead of listening to the clueless media, do a little research on Egypt. Then you'll be able to grasp whats coming next.

I'll give you a hint...think 1979 Iran. You know, the peaceful students bringing down the Shah of Iran. How did that turn out?

The difference is the Saudi people aren't living on a couple of bucks a day, they live pretty well. Their benefits and cash would keep them from ever doing what the Egyptians did. Also, the religious police would kiss people's asses before it ever got close to what was going on in Egypt.

it will become a muslim state. maybe not as severe as iran in the beginning, but watch gas prices rise as they shut us off from the suez canal eventually. how does 7.75 a gallon sound. the goal of islam is to take over the world and they will succeed since we don't have an army that can stop them without nuking them. they are far more united than we are and you better brush up on the koran when they come knocking at your door to see if you are mosque material or be exiled to haiti.
