    Is Jaguar a good car?

I'm looking for a used car online and I wanted something kind of sporty looking but also a bit on the luxury side, and Jaguar seems to be a good fit.

The problem is the prices are all dirt cheap, like between 5 000 - 10 000. Most of the other cars I see on the site (like regular toyotas, mazdas etc...) go for around 10 000 - 20 000.

Is there something obvious I'm missing with Jaguar? The cars look great and I'd have expected them to be way more expensive.

Jags are not popular around here

A lot of guys got vans like me that can fly

Masu get a 10 year old van and save your money

wasting money on cars is foolish and your in no position to ride something expensive

Not only were the Jags I was looking at LESS expensive than a Toyota Tercel, but having money to be able to afford a nice doesn't mean you've accomplish anything. Having money doesn't mean you worked harder than anyone else.

That's a general 'you', not you specifically.

Most nice cars are for older people it seems. Usually no one can afford nice cars until they hit 40.

That's why I'm looking at some used ones that all look great. I'd be the first young guy I know with a car that stands out.

jag quality & prestige plummeted ever since ford took it over.

get a lexus gs, acura tl or infinit g35 if you want reliable luxury sports sedan

been there done that, when I was 21 I bought an Volvo 850 turbo, it was three years old when I got it. Wish I had never bought it and just bought a new toyota or honda at the time. I spent a lot on service and repairs on the car. Something was always going wrong with it. Buy quality over looks.

Jaguars are nice, but there are better options... BMW for example, you can't go wrong there...

Great point. I had a similar experience with Jaguar.

Jaguars always being broken down or in the shop is actually one of the biggest misconceptions ever. I was doing some research on this subject and they are actually one of the most reliable cars you can buy. If you do need to get something fixed it usually costs a bit because much of that stuff needs to be done at the dealership. Unless it is an older Jag in which case some (very few) garages will work on them.

One of my friends bought a 1 year old Cadillac SRX. Nicely appointed inside and out. The standard bumper to bumper warranty is 4 years or 80,000kms (if your in Canada). All regular maintenance is included also during the 4 yr term. Rides very nice on the highway. GM has come a long way since going bankrupt and they are building better vehicles now.

Never had the opportunity to drive a Jag so I cant say. My dad drives a Lexus and its a great car. I drive a 97 BMW 318i and I love that car. I just dont trust older american cars after my 96 Chevy Blazer (my first car) gave me alot of trouble. I hear Infinity is good value.

Infiniti does have good value from the reviews i've seen. Also, the prices are amazing, plus the look is great.

Right now it's a toss up between a Lexus, BMW or Infiniti

Even though Lexus and Infiniti are Japanese cars, you'll hardly ever see one in Japan. All for the dum-dum Americans who want a lux version of a Honda or Toyota. I'll trust their judgement on this one.

I only lease cars, and my next will either be an Audi or a Volvo C70.

The newer ones are good but I would get rid of it the day the warranty expires. They start to have trouble and then it's no turning back... They turn into junk... I would much rather drive a Benz or BMW than Jag...
