    march madness in vegas

was looking at the stations hotels as well as the South Point Casino..

most of the places on the strip are like 2 to 3 times as much as they usually are during this time..

i have never been to a stations casino nor the South Point..

any advice on which Stations Casino is the nicest vs the South point will be returned with pts ..

Red Rock is probably the nicest Station Casino, and I would probably stay there out of them all, including South Point.

    Palace, no.

Aliante, I haven't been to. Heard it is nice though. Newest of the Station Casinos.

I would recommend the palace just stayed there it's ok only 10 dollars for A cab to the Hilton if you're using the sportsbook

You should really look at the Golden Nugget. They make a huge deal out of March Madness. Have an entire ballroom set up with theatre screens to watch the games on. I stayed there last year during MM and got an awesome room in the Rush Tower (their newest area) for a great rate.

We stay on the strip typically. Excalibur is usually the cheapest I've found and for like 110 a night you can get a 42" in your room, so when you're hung over in the morning when the games start at like 9 you can nurse it while watching the games (provided you got your bets in the night before)

Was there last year for the Elite 8/Final 4. Stayed at Encore (real nice room for right around $150) and watched saturday at the Palazzo, Sunday at Ceasars.

Palazzo was SICK for watching games but you have to make a reservation and commit to spending ~$200 per person!! It was well worth the cost. We hung out ALL DAY, drank good liquor, ate good food (both meals and snacks) and when we still had some $$ to spend at the end they allowed us to select bottles of champagne TO GO. What really made it worth it was we sat with Bob Knight the whole night talking about the games! His son Pat showed up late night and I bought him and his assistant a drink.

It was a bitch to get a seat at Ceasars but the cool this is that the book isn't in a "room", it's wide open so you can grab a seat in the back or at one of the bars on the other side and get a seat right in front of the TVs. We had a blast.

in my opinion, March madness is the best time to go to Las Vegas. Even better than the Super Bowl.

Sunset is in Henderson, and isn't bad. You do have a Mall across the street.
The Hilton is pretty much the best sportsbook out here.

I agree with the Nugget if you're looking to be taken care for an amazing bang for the buck. I was there a few years ago and it was free food and drinks in the theater room, nothing lame, carving stations etc.

Yeah the nugget is good, dont be put off that its downtown but i bet that its pricey during MM. Like the other guy said Red Rock in the best of the stations, its actually really nice, lost of amenities, the rooms are nice and its right off 215 so u can hit the strip quick. Aliante is also nice but they dont have many amenities, I dont even think they have a 24 hour cafe there, they got fridays but it closes at midenight. Plus the place is kinda small.

But the book is better at Aliante then Red Rock but it can get kinda ghetto in there sometimes with a bunch of dudes in there watching their $5 parlay cards.

if you're staying at red rock rent a car
cheaper and much more convenient than cabs if you're not going to be too drunk (should be able to get a car for $20-25/day or so before their ridiculous taxes/fees bump it to 30/day)

the only way i would take cabs or shuttles around vegas is if everyone in my group was going to be drinking heavily

Go to their website and look under promos and my vacation.
They are offering like 2nights for $125 plus $100 in credit for food and stuff,
red rock and green valley are $250 with $200 credit.
it says good through December 2011.

love that french dip sandwich at that deli to the right of the sports book
and $1 big tappers when they have em at the bar, quicker and colder than waiting for a waitress/tipping

For Station properties, Red Rock and Green Valley are the 2 nice ones. I prefer Red Rock. Lots to do on property and you are just a few minutes away from 2 other casinos(Rampart and Suncoast) as well as a ton of great restaurants. Red Rock has some nice places to drink like Yardhouse and their steakhouse(T-Bones) has been doing $5 plates of great appetizers and cheap booze from 5p-7p.
