    of course, obviously Saints +3.5 would of been the right side.

    More realistic, lets say u took Bears -3 against the Redskins and lost, seems pretty obvious that was the play even though the Skins won the game

    The biggest problem folks have in life is mistaking bad outcomes with bad decisions.

    In sports, you can be picking at 55%, a win advantage of roughly 5.5% and still have 45% of your bets be losses, but if you can continue at that win rate (55%), you will make a fortune.

    Above post sums it up.

    Noone will hit 100%. This is kinda in line with the discussion of chalk. Yes, Yankees will beat the Orioles three out of four times but if you bet Yankees at -400 every time they play you will loose money in the end (and fast). It is simple maths.

    If your bet has a 55% chance of winning and you bet it at -105 your losing bet was definately the right side.

    Very simply there is a winning side and a losing side. Right side...wrong side debates are inconsequential, subjective and non-empirical.

    Having said that, "the right side" loses multiple times each day.

    Yeah, I don't think everyone here would call it "gambling" though. My objective isn't to win today or this week but to show profit in the long-term.

    Otherwise you would only bet the team with highest chance of winning, regardless of the line.

    Ok so if you get the heat to win the championship at 400 to 1 odds its not the right side win or lose?What the right side implies is the right side MATHEMATICALLY. Math is how you win in gambling. People will never learn that one of the edges the house has that they have a mathemetically edge on most gamblers bets.

    ie roulette you are taking even money on a red or black wager which implies you need a 50% chance to win the bet to be an equal ev bet. There are atleast 1-2 0's that give the casino the edge.

    GAMBLING is about math edges not about winners. If you get the pacers +5 +200 tonight that isn't the right play?

    Sportsbooks and casinos love the logic or lack of that players/posters have written in this thread because it just about gurantees people are going to lose in the long run because of bad betting.
