Yea, something needs to be done about this. SBR also losses when a poster disappears because they do not want to repay at 6 points a day or will not pay. Its probably a debate we can fully flush out pre football and develop and implement a policy.

Guys, I have addressed this a couple times. SBR gives us 7 points a day. What we do with them is our business. If you loan points out you take a risk to gain. They should not get involved & ban people for our actions. SBR is not a socialist government & for them to get involved in posters personal affairs, disputes, would be stupid. If you dont wanna take a chance of getting stiffed then don't loan points, that simple. Just like with any business venture where there is a chance to make a profit, there is also a chance of losing it all.

Now this would be for all forums. That way if a poster is more along the lines of an entertainment persona then he obviously would stand the best chance to be awarded those points in Players Talk. However we have some individual sports poster who have huge following and draw traffic to SBR soley to see their selections and this would be a way of SBR rewarding them for choosing SBR as their home.

You have some talent around here and some of that talent deserves some recognition because AS GOOD as SBR is and as much content as it offers I think SBR's most redeeming quality is it's posters. This last year I have spent a lot of time at many different forums and while there are some really great niche forums out there not a single other forum has the diversity of SBR.

Smart idea. The SBR team is itching to make some refinements to the program to award those who contribute the most similar to your suggestion. I like yours tying it to replies, thats a creative idea. But every idea has its own set of drawbacks as well. We will get into the points refinement later in the summer. It will be a lively debate I imagine.

Add a rating button (+1/-1) for each post. Award points to authors who make higher rating post. And take away points from those making post with big negative rating. I guess that would get rid of those lock of year posts.

1. See MexStallion's post but in short yes, we need to debate that and come up with a plan
2. Ghosts are like mice, we stay after them and keep trying to improve our weapons. I do think the anti fraud technology that has helped merchants will help us battle the ghost defrauders.

Leave it to John. You're one smart mofo. Why hire a consultant when you can tap the resources of your own audience who know your product better than anyone walking around with an MBA. It's a whole lot cheaper and much more effective.

Here are my thoughts. Before we talk about specifics we must first identify our objective. Do you want to continue to focus and cater to an audience that is predicated almost exclusively on sports gambling. Now anyone who has visited the Players Talk Forum can witness for themselves that this forum takes on a life of it's own and the topics are not relegated exclusively to sports gambling but are an amalgalm of indivudal interests, tastes, opinions and even personalities. I wouldn't blame you if you chose this path as your success has been undeniable and your blueprint has obviously hit the proverbial homerun. Not one to rest on your laurels you may wish to improve upon this as opposed to horizontally integrate other aspects of sports exclusive of gambling.

If you maintain the course I would suggest the following:

Poker room - but only if it's done well. You are wise if you thoroughly beta test this and spare yourself the slings and arrows of what will no doubt be an audience just licking their chops to do what they collectively do best and that is to bitch and moan.

Fantasy Sports - No doubt there are the old bastards who will poo poo this idea but it's a young man's world and fantasy sports is simply part of their experience. I believe you could model your program after CBSsports or ESPN and command a competitive service charge to minimize the costs or God forbid, make a few bucks. You will also attract a new audience with appetites for horizontally integrated goods and services like sports gear, paraphanelia and even tickets to sporting events.

Handicapper Picks of the Day - I say "hire" 3 respected posters or perhaps engage Justin and 2 posters to either review established, legitimate handicapping services and their plays or they could volunteer their own plays. This would eliminate the need to comb through the littany of service plays where some are legit and others are not. You could post their record and post their plays daily and could even add a podcast to explain why they chose the teams they chose for that day. As it stands there are just too mnay service playes to wade through.

SBR Talk Show - Live where the callers could call in and talk sports and even talk about the Players Talk Forum. I would shy away from the stilted talk of Winning Wednesdays and make it a lot more loose. Then you could archive each show if posters missed it live and wanted to hear it later on.

Finally, if you wanted to horizontally integrate, you could offer SBR members discounts on concert tickets, tickets to sporting events, sports gear, etc.... as you establish relationships with individual sites and vendors.

This is a niche suggestion for the amusement of Players Talk.

Get JJ a decent friggin Webcam and set him up to do call in Poster Inerviews. Make it a monthly show or whatever. I would say Loshak cause he is probably better in a spontaneous situation but JJ is the Players Talk champion.

Also don't put any limitations on him in the process. Caller beware should be the credo. If a caller calls JJ and JJ is in one of those moods and decides he wants to have recreational phone sex regardless if the caller is male or female that is on them.

This would be a HUGE draw for SBR.

Top 3 Changes

1. Give Sam9ball, WillieBee, RichardMoss, and Lou all raises.

Sam for all he does with the store and how fast he gets products out to posters.
WillieBee for all he does with the blogs and distributing points to posters.
RichardMoss for he does with the contests.
Lou for all he does in customer service via chat if you need something corrected.

2. Have a 256 or 128 poster contest, bracket setup, at least 1 every 2 months; seems we only have about 2 per year and would like to see in the neighborhood of 5 or 6 per year.

3. Educate posters not to take you up on your special line offers because it gets old watching them get slaughtered.

Tolerate more in PT without auto-PZing everything "controversial". Posters don't want bullshit politically correct filters or constant timeouts from mods when a heated debate or name-calling occurs.
