Gambling addiction hotlines say volume is up and callers are younger as online sports betting booms...

I guess the Gen Xers and Millennials can't help abusing the ease of wagering at domestic U.S. sites.

Looks like offshore wagering is a blessing in disguise for the all-in eager beavers.

I would have been one of those guys 30 years ago. There were days where I came to my wife and told her we couldn't pay the electric bill because I gambled it all away. In my situation, all I can say is that with age comes wisdom. It is true that the internet provides much more convenience in gambling, but it also provides much more information in making a decision. I've conditioned myself to use it for the latter reason, and then don't follow how my bet goes. I made several bets yesterday, took my 22 year old daughter out for her birthday, and watched Wrestlemania. I had no idea how my bets went until 4 o'clock this morning. If you use the internet for it's good qualities, and don't focus on your bets as the center of your universe, then you can avoid addiction.

When you learn to bet to win instead of bet to bet, the game slows down so you can see it more clearly.

Not surprising. More easier than ever to overdraw bank accounts, max out credit, take personal loans quickly, and everything else. Even if you try getting help, it all just keeps being available.

Yes, this goes back to one of my old sayings. “Make every reload like it’s your last reload”. Because in the offshore realm, we had to jump through hoops and be pretty serious about cash we deposited. You had to make it work or it was back to the drawing board. Nowadays, it’s click click click and the money just goes in and out.

Here in Toronto, it got to the point that parent advocacy groups lauched petitions against the big major casinos to stop the advertising associated with sportsbooks as it was happening on TV, radio, print and billboards throughout the city. It still goes on but to a slightly smaller extent now.
