Manster, think you are wrong here...let's see how the Mtn West teams fare this year

Indiana State should have been in there.

I like the Manster suggestion. Here would be my revision:

    1) Qualify the conferences by One-bid leagues and Multi-bid leagues:
...For the bottom 8 Conferences, you don't guarantee a bid for the Reg Season champ.
...For the remaining Conferences, the Reg Season champ gets a bid and is exempt from the Conf tourney.

    2) The Conf Tourney becomes a play-in Tournament for the remaining teams.

    3) Expand to 80 teams. # of At-Large teams is reduced. You play 16 games on Tues/Wed to get down to 64.

How does that sound? Give merit to the Regular Season, and get the disinterested teams out of the Conf Tourn pool.

I'm actually not a big believer in KenPom. I LOVE IT when I see a KenPom rating that I view as flawed.

I'm not sure they get it right. Used to be that winning the REGULAR SEASON in a Tier 2 conference was a De Facto ticket in. Indiana St was 17-3 in Conf, that has to count for something.
Who is better then KenPom ?

I use his ratings a fair bit to weight schedule strength etc. I find his gradings to be fairly accurate

Appreciate any other site you might have that's better. Thanks

This is not like college football where teams actually get left out. These schools had about 15 games to build their resume and didn’t do it. If you didn’t get in you were not good enough.

    Jeff Sagarin is the best.
For reasons unknown though, Sagarin didn't do NCAA hoops this year.

The Dunkel Index is excellent as well.
Jim Dunkel is the grandaddy of them all, he started all this almost 100 years ago.

Massey is just as good as Pomeroy too.

Hey Jake. I would like nothing better than to see the MWC teams finally turn it around! Believe me, I'm pulling for them to have some success in the tournament. However, I'm a straight shooter and call a spade a spade. Here's a little nugget: Since 2006, MWC squads are 23-46-2 (33.3%) against the spread in the Big Dance. Just some food for thought. Take it FWIW.

Mtn West very strong top to bottom this year. Not sure how much that stat has to do with the here and now except for maybe very recent history. Could end up with pie on my face but think that the conference will show well in the tourney this year.
