    RIP Franco Harris

True legend, true icon, truly one of the GOAT's.
Damn, the timing of Franco's death is all together wrong.

RIP Franco, a true NFL giant.

Fuk, that sucks. Great player but he was a great guy, too. Guy with integrity.

RIP, champ. Will think of him anytime I walk past his Imm Reception statue in the Pittsburgh airport.

Jesus they were supposed to retire his number Saturday night. Only the third one in steeler history to be retired. The 50th anniversary of the immaculate reception. Unbelievable. No one has ever went out like this ever. RIP. Nash is right. I can’t remember such an awful timing to one’s death in my life.

People forget the ball ricocheted off of another top ten GOAT (Tatum) and from what I am told that Frenchy Fuqua was no slouch either.

When you consider Bradshaw threw the ball, caromed off Tatum into the arms of Franco Harris, three of the GOAT's that ever played the game, I don't think you can even debate this was the greatest play of all time.

I saw Montana to Clark and the drive on TV, the Harris catch I wasn't even in diapers yet when that occured, but that has to be the all time greatest play.

Ball hit the ground. The Refs feared for their lives to rule it the other way.

Even still, back then the ball had to touch the defender before you could catch it legally. Did it touch Tatum??

"I didn't know that," Madden said. "But I do know that there was no way they could have reversed that touchdown even if it had been illegal. They (the officials) had to give Pittsburgh the victory to save their own lives."

Probably not a legal play because of the deflection. I’ve been told steelers were -5.5 that day and the extra point gave them the cover. Anyone bet that game?

Today it would be ruled no catch. And more than likely targeting to some degree.
Or it would be called back and overturned after the referees review video for no less than 5 minutes.

Heck, I'm surprised Franco didn't step out of bounds at the one and have Pittsburgh kick a field goal.

I'm thankful I grew up when I did.

Swann, Stallworth, Bradshaw, Bleier, Ham, Webster....too many to mention.
RIP FRANCO. My favorite team as a kid in the 70s and 80s.

Basically the catch was the Steelers equivalent of the tuck game for new England.

Two Dynasties built on a fluke moment.

Wait let's go over that .

Franco made the catch. Steelers lost next week but went on to win 4 Superbowl.

We know what the pats did.

    NHL

Islanders. Bob Nystrom was offside in ot in game 6. They went on to win 4 cups.

Jeter Homer that guy caught in the outfield vs Orioles. Yanks dynasty built.

Overrated. Went out of bounds to avoid being hit often.

Someone post a picture of him as a Seattle Seahawk in 1984

The most overrated, overhyped, non "great" play ever. Ever.

Many black athletes die younger then they should. They stop working out and revert to the ghetto fried grub that they grew up on. Fried chicken and what not. They get fat, arteries clog and then die young.

Jibby, you're not doing yourself any favors with the universe making comments like this over the years. Compassion and empathy don't seem to be things you're known for. What do you want people to say about you when you die?

Just stating an opinion and a fact. Has nothing to do with showing empathy.

When I die Goaty I don't give a rats ass what anyone thinks or says about me, I'll be dead and moving to the next life. I don't have time to entertain any of that garbage looking back.
