    I don't follow closely, isn't there a goal differential tie breaker involved or something in that match.
    I overheard bits and pieces of a conversation the Portuguese soccer head store owner was having this morning. with a customer.

    If Costa Rica beats US by more than 5 goals tonight, they will automatically qualify for the World Cup. If they do not, they will play in a playoff match in June against New Zealand in June with the winner of that game going to the World cup. If Costa Rica does somehow pull off a 6 goal differential win, most likely the US (although it could be Mexico if they lose tonight) will play New Zealand in June.

    I can't see the US losing by 6 goals tonight. So they are likely in the World Cup even with a loss.

    I remember back in the day I made a huge bet on Costa Rica to beat USA on my birthday and they scored like 30 seconds into the game. Costa Rica is actually closer to Mexico on goal difference, but Mexico would have to lose at home to El Salvador for them to have any shot there. Costa Rica can’t fall out of the playoff spot though either, so they really have nothing to lose

    The draw will be Friday even though some playoff spots aren’t going to be decided until June. Would be more excited for the World Cup if it was in summer. Going to suck being right in the middle of football. No one is making their debut this time except Qatar and wales will be if they win their playoff in June. You will know the seeds tomorrow. The teams not in yet are 4 seeds and Qatar is a 1 seed. Canada is a likely 4 seed FWIW

    I don't think football viewing will be affected. It's played at that time between end of season and bowl games. The only thing on will be NFL on Sundays. You can watch soccer the other 6 days. And the hours will be either morning or early afternoon US time.

    Costa Rica was balls deep needing goals here. Not a surprise. Although USA should have lead early. Goal differential meant nothing to them.

    It starts Monday November 21. The last game of the day should start at 2pm east was what I saw. The final is on the Sunday before Christmas not sure of the time though. I would rather have it in the summer. There won’t be much on during those months.

    Not sure these seeds matter that much but USA can’t play any else seeded second, canada, or the costa rica/New Zealand winner. Mexico was actually the top number 2 seed. Germany and Netherlands are 2 seeds. Top seeds are Qatar, Brazil, Argentina, Belgium, England, france, Portugal, and Spain

    Mexico being a 1 seed would have been the worst. They suck. Portugal ain’t good either. Canada is way better than most of the teams ahead of them
