This is stating the obvious but sounds like it's time to take some accountability or try a new strategy maybe?

What you're doing is clearly not working.

You seem quite depressed and like you've given up. Maybe don't gamble today, do a bit of exercise and get some fresh air and a decent healthy meal?

Woj, let’s get some different hobbies. Hit the gym, get some fresh air, figure out a plan, etc... What were your goals/dreams before you went down this 15+ year rabbit trail? Where do you live pal? Has to be a better way and there is always a healthy/smart way out of any mess.

    Believe me on that.

The obvious answer is to stop and never gamble again. But I've been trying to do that for the last 20 years. Nothing but a massive failure.

The worst part is I've had this new job for 3 years that I get forced to work 60 hours a week making a lot of ot. So the losses just get bigger and bigger. Blow the check, take out loans, blow those, cuts into my next checks, rinse and repeat cycle of death can't get out of.And I'm killing myself 10 hrs a day only one day off.

    Please God end this.

These casino games can't be beat long term. And even if they could be, you've shown throughout your 38 years that you aren't the man to do it. Why does winning ever bring you joy if you're eventually going to lose it? Tell your books to ban the casino/horses on your accounts and if they refuse, get new books that will comply. Do it quickly while this disgust is still fresh in your mind. You still have like half of your expected lifespan left, you can turn it around man.

Wow. Some real issues here. Got to find something to do with your time other than gamble and at least set a gambling budget. The biggest problem is probably in the amount you gamble. Have to dial it way back and realize you are not really gambling for the money. Try to get some perspective on why you are gambling and then change your habits. You've got to make losing hard psychologically so that you stop doing it.

Biggest thing you have to do is find other interests in life which is hard when you have been doing something since your 20s. Fortunately, I could not gamble in my 20s.

What I usually recommend to people who are action junkies is to try to make your gambling about winning. Start betting 1% and try to push that boulder up the hill and take your losses without increasing your bet size. If you can get into that frame of mind, you can slowly get away from gambling as you realize you are not going to win and gambling is pretty miserable.

Also maybe start playing videos games because that is basically what you are doing and those are not as expensive.

I hope it works out my friend. I think the job sounds great. You might not like it or feel like it's killing you, I'd argue it keeps you active and alive. Keeps you away from your thoughts. You don't need a lecture from me on gambling... just make a budget and stick to it. Those casino games are the problem. Awful. Awful. Awful. Hope you find a way.

    Budget Gambling probably the answer

If you can fight it and stick to it best of both worlds

Eventually you will enjoy lower limit bets

Ask the offshore book to show your bets in pesos instead of dollars. So even though you will be betting $50 it will show that you are betting 1000 pesos so you feel good about yourself like your are a big shot pro but only loosing a little at a time.

You sound like me i swear you do in some of your posts. I get really emotional too. This year up until recent i have had no big cashouts at all. The funny thing is you mentioned about the cash back you got in losses. I lost $5000 in the casino after i won it. Then redeposited it and worked it up had a shot to get to over $10000 . Then i decided i wanted $11080 so i can do 2 cashouts of $5000 plus have enough to do a parlay for $1000 and the last $80 cover the fees. I cashed out $5000 at that point then i got stupid and with $6100 in there went in casino and lost almost every hand in 3 card poker. All gone .

So now i was like you pissed. I even went on live chat to bitch and i guess they felt bad and put $200 back in there. So i lost $6100 and got $200 . Plus keep in mind i lost like $5000 in the casino a week earlier. But i did get $700 back in casino losses giving me $900 to work with of their money. Then i went and played BJ and worked it up again and went All in sportsbetting. I blocked casino and will NOT touch it until i either cash out or lose it all. Right now i am at $5013 and have a game going if it hits i will be at $5040 and cash out another $5000 . Which will make me feel a bit better that i did not blow that other $5000 cash out.

I think the trick is to block casino and just sports bet once you get to that $3000 mark. I would go All in with a good baseball Favorite after checking the numbers. If you risk $3000 to win $1000 i always feel its worth it to get yourself to $4000 as long as the numbers are heavy in your favor. I do that a lot then slow it down to edge my way to my goal. Just do not be an idiot like me and go in casino. If this game i have going wins i am at $5040 and you can bet the house i will be cashing out. If not i will just keep betting sports until i get where i need. I know if i go in casino it will take the entire $5000 + . It already did twice it took $11000 that i won in a damn week .

The biggest problem is I'm numb to the losses. I could lose 10k be suicidal for a day or two and then make another deposit as soon as I get my hands on money.
The other problem is I can't bet small any more.

The problem is you do not have any respect for your money. I used to work 60 hours per week and I loved banking that dough. No way I could gamble. I was too busy. You've got no chance to win.

The reason people bet big is because they can't take the losing. It is too hard. Betting big keeps the excitement up and keeps giving you the idea that you can get back to even or that something is going to change.

Start trying to really put yourself up against the wall. There is no bet as exciting as your last bet. That's going to be pressure. Don't just keep giving yourself an out.

I know exactly how you feel if you ever see my thread where i post my games you can see me go berzerk . I am literally about to finish this run though and finally cash out my first withdraw of $10000 this year. It was a battle though.

If you look through my thread more then once i have said EXACTLY what you just said about being numb to the losses. Problem with my losses is many were by 1 run or point or looked like an EASY win to only fall apart and lose somehow in the end. I also felt like i was cursed with so much negative happening to me. So i know how you feel.

Finally for the first time this year i had 2 HUGE wins that looked like losses. The second was the other night on an NFL preseason Over where they scored a 95 yard TD with a couple seconds left. As i just looked they credited the last game so i am at my goal as i am writing this $5040. So as soon as i finish typing this going to cash out.

I think once you get to that $3000 mark you are in range to get to $5000 . Take some time look over games stay out of casino. Before this run i just have hit on i lost several shots where i went All in and lost every one amounts of $4000-$5000 and went 0-9 . This was the first time i hit. Also do not start maybe with a big amount start with between like $350-$500. Look for a good bonus and work it from there . I normally with a decent bonus can if i go All in get over $1000 . Then i either work it up a little more in casino until i get to $1500-$1600 then go All in again on sports to try and get to $3000. Then from there i like to do a good % bet i dont mind risking $3000 to get to $4000 if my odds are heavy in my favor . Once at $4000 there are so many more options to try. Slow it down and just get to $5000 and cash out? Maybe be aggressive and go All in to break $7000 . Just whatever you do stay away from casino after a certain point.

And if you lose it sportsbetting do NOT get too upset . At least you took that shot and lost it fair on a game and not in a rigged casino where you really had zero chance to begin with.

If you are going to go in casino DO IT EARLY . Set a limit and try to stick to it. I think $2000 is good. Once you reach $2000 block casino and switch to sports betting. And dont use all your money maybe every pay if you can afford $350-$500 take two shots. If you lose stop and wait until next payday. Thays what i try to do . Unless i make a really good payday i may do more but dont spend everything you have.

And do not think about being suicidal. I finally hit for $10000 . I am about to cash out in a sec the second $5000. But just try and be disciplined and if you manage to get on a small run you can do some serious damage. If you are starting with like $450 and get a decent bonus you can easily get to $1100 + . Then you need 2 more Wins to get around $4000 going All in. No casino after $2000. Good luck whatever you decide to do.

I usually do start small. I never deposit more than 500 it's usually around 300 or 400. But I've had so many run ups on casino I'm talking 300 to 12,000...30 dollars to 2700...1 dollar to 800 lol...but almost every time I lose it all.

One time in 2006 I did 350 to 10000 and cashed out. But mostly lose it all back. I never can stop and think it's easy to just keep running it up forever.

Yeah, that's the problem. You are going to have random runs. It is exciting. Ultimately, you do not consider it real money. If you did, you would cash it out. Just play a video game and work for a high score. It is more entertaining and more of a challenge.

That is why you need to set a limit. I can win early in there at times . But they destroy me when i get stupid and go in there. I mean i had $6100 and wanted to just win a couple $100 and it took everything. Add in a week earlier it took another $5000. That is $11000 in a week . This has happened in the past too . So thats why i block it at $2000 . I think that is the key. If you do not have the discipline and lose higher amounts stop at a certain point and just go All in sportsbetting. Overall i have been pretty good but one damn slip cost me $11000 in a week .

On heritage I can block it and unblock it myself. Maybe they can permanently block it. I need to go back to nitrogen because no race book and you can perma ban all casino games.

That is how it is at GT. I can block it and unblock it. Normally i stick to my guns. If i get over $2000 i block it and dont go back . If i get to cash out then i unblock it . Or if i lose it all i unblock it and start over. I just put in for my 2ND withdraw of $5000 at GT. So i finally hit this year with a $10000 withdraw. Assuming i get the 2nd $5000 which i should GT is pretty good at paying. But man i tell you it was like feeling cursed up until this very day . Hopefully maybe now that will let me have some more runs in the near future. Overall still not a good year at all but at least that insane drought is done.

Put my $100 horse rebate from heritage on rays/yanks rl trying to slowly build up..stupid yanks have base loaded and no outs can't score. Caught stealing 3rd in the 8th with 2 on and no outs. Cant score.

Corbin I got stories for days. Heres one: My dad was trying to help me i was like 25 or something living at home I was signing my checks over to him he was saving all my money in his safe and giving me a little each week..one week he was out of town and I broke into the safe took the 4000 or so in cash went to the otb lost like 800 and drove to the casino at 2am and lost it all playing baccarat at harrahs in Joliet..I threw up in the parking garage. That was a fun drive home.

When I was 21 I dropped out of my last year in college and took the 5k I got for dropping out, got down to 2k doing various things over a few days. Got fired from my job cause I didn't show up cuz I was passed out from staying in the casino all night. Lied to my dad saying I was going to school and work when I wasn't. Would pretend to take my backpack and would leave the house wearing my work uniform...anyways..take the 2k that's left to my name one day and run it to like 5k at the majestic star in Gary Indiana. Go the next day and I'm at like 10k now. I'm on top of the world. Even all the Asians were following me at the table. Go the next day with my bud and leave 5k in the car and take the other 5. Lose it quickly. My buddy is demanding we leave. I tell him im.going to the car to get the 5k. He tries to stop me but I tell him to get the fk out of my way. Go back in and first hand I fire 1200 and lose. Another 800 and lose. Slow it down and still lose. All of a sudden I'm check changing my last 3 blacks for red. Betting like $20 and $5 dragons. Demoralizing. I go broke and ask pit boss for food coupon. He says what you want a buffet. I said no I'm leaving gimme a slice of pizza. He said "I think you got enough for a whole pizza" I said yeah, I'd imagine so. Got the pizza and drove home with the buddy had him drive.

That was the worst hour car ride I've ever been in. We didn't speak a word. I had him drive. I ate one piece and threw the pizza box out the window onto the highway in disgust.
Only words that were spoken were when we were driving over this giant rock quarry by the state line when I asked him to drive off the side of the road and kill us. He of course did not oblige. That was a fun day.

Side note: if I'm gambling like that I would never let myself get whittled down. Like last night, I got down to my last 440 or so and it was all in time. I'm not gonna lose a couple thousand and have $100 left. That's just stupid and demoralizing. Also leaves little room for a comeback.

    Man... what now?

Stop gambling bro. This doesn’t end well. Leave town and start anew like dexter. Head to Alaska. Can play some parlay cards for shits n giggles once settled. Give yourself a chance

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is something you might want to look into. It is a proven method to break addiction cycles. Your insurance might cover one of the apps like Happify. Call your AEP helpline if you have healthcare through your job which I assume working 60 hr/ week you do.

I might look into that. I've always had addictions. I smoked cigarettes from 16 to like 30 something. I'm overweight because I don't necessarily eat bad foods, but I gorge. I eat huge portions. Like I don't eat donuts and shit but my portions are huge. No self control. I always have to be doing something eating, smoking, beating off, gambling...and it always hits the worst when I'm in a seemingly good situation. Like I can't be content ever with things being ok. I gotta fukk it up somehow

Dude I hear ya. I can't even tell you how many things I have been addicted to in my life. I smoked two packs a day for about 10 years. My wife would always want to smoke like 2 cigs when we went out. I would almost always smoke until the pack was gone and she just couldn't understand it. Same with booze. I have friends that have full bars, never get drunk, always have the ingredients for whatever cocktail you want...not me, that shit was gone as fast as I could suck it down.

Addiction comes in all forms including eating, nicotine, coffee, drugs, shopping, booze, gambling, the internet...the list goes on. These activities trigger our brains to produce dopamine which makes us feel good. The problem with that is it takes more and more of these activities to produce the high. Addictions are progressive which is why you can't just bet 20 bucks and get that feeling when you win or sweat a close game.

Here's a good blog post that descries it in a more clinical way https://www.algamus.org/blog/role-of...ing-withdrawal

CBT can help you recognize triggers and give you tools for coping when you feel like placing a bet or eating a massive meal.

You might also want to look into herbal mood enhancers like 5 HTP. I am not a doctor but based on your comments I would bet (kidding) that you're clinically depressed. If you don't find joy in life, it's hard to see a light at the end of the tunnel. I've been there. It sucks.

Hope things get better for you. There's no shame in seeking help. PM me any time if you have any questions about my experience or just want to chat.

Good post, gaucher. I have a very addictive OCD personality as well. It got me in a lot of trouble for a long time until i learned to control it(for the most part). At the end of the day, you are in control of your decisions! I take it very seriously with certain things(gambling for instance).

Say that is not true and you guys are just joking. Did you really bet the puppy bowl? How much did you bet? I would think books would not let you bet a lot on something like that. If you say you bet like $1000 on the puppy bowl i will be speechless.
