Yep was bad day for me betting at the racetrack. I don’t go often. Just for entertainment today. Much harder than sports betting and blackjack. Blackjack very beatable. Idk how people profit long term on horse betting

Agreed deff. lost more than win at the track but what a great feeling it is to do the research on a horse and it wins!

Btw. Hit the Preakness winner for a 50 spot

Need to concentrate on one track. I stick mostly to Hoosier Park. Take advantage of every perk out there, but I know a lot of people out here limited to what adw they can access.

With high rebates and/or access to exchange wagering, it's beatable. Without access to either of those, you don't have a prayer betting any significant volume. You can certainly hold an edge in horse tournaments. Match race odds are beatable but I doubt too many places offer them these days, and those that do would be quick to limit anyone with a clue.

But yeah, if you are betting into parimutuel pools with 0 or little rebate, it's no doubt a sizeable -EV situation, but most things gambling for most people are as well.

There is some truth to modeling. The problem is that you must end up sitting on a given price/odds. The whales today have bots that bet as the betting closes and you can't get the price. It would be nice to see set odds..Never happen here.

Your right - I too would like to see set odds. Will it ever happen, probably not here. Whales do have an advantage with auto bets and some tracks allow them - which pisses me.
For me I play p3/p4's - that way I'm reducing the take. "If" I get decent odds on my prime horse (5-1 Min) I will bet it to win. I avoid ex's and tri's.
Modelling software does produce but, ya there's always a but; if the parameters you set fit the track bias it works - not at all tracks. I do quite well at A tracks and avoid all others - for those it's a crap shoot.

    and the results
    1 6 Vici 7/5 3/2 $5.00 $2.90 $2.20
    2 7 Kitten's Cat 9/5 2 $2.90 $2.10
    3 1 War Stroll 8 10 $3.00

The payoff isn't the greatest, but I'm playing p3's and 4's so for me to keep the cost down I'm always looking for a single - sometimes 2.
My single is in Race 3 at Churchill. I'll post it next.

As i have stated in these threads Horse Racing is a bad bet now. Im old School i love the Racing Form program and pen but that way of handicapping is dead. You will come up with the 3 favs every time. Takeout, Year long Circuits and Computers have ruined racing i think.I prob could go on and on and i played as a pro for 12 years, Now i cant stand it i was done after 3 races yesterday. IN Person is still kind of cool my next time i play will be a trip to Texas going out to Lone Star July 9, and 10th so should be a nice hot night to have some coronas and play a few races.Plus all these tiny wagers have killed the money payouts.50 cent tris 1 dollar exactas racing needs to go back to a 5 dollar wager like for exactas and go back to 2 dollar tris.
