Jalen Suggs, is probably the greatest all-around athlete in the last 50 years or more

    Any takers?
It didn't take me too long to have my eyes bulging out of my sockets after seeing him play just three games for Gonzaga. He simply killed my [was] favorite team, Iowa.
Does anyone want to bet 2 points against my pick, Suggs, as the GOAT all- around athlete in the past 5 decades?

We may have to have 3 members be the judge of the possible winner?
I need some competition. It didn't happen on the other thread but I will forgive all SBR members.
I think they followed JJ's advice with his non competitive idea?

This thread will be open till 12 midnight this Sunday. Who you got?

And if Garza is picked in the NBA draft over Suggs this year and Suggs does go to the NBA, they will be sorry after 1 or 2 years of NBA play.
He may wait for that other even more freaky--no exaggeration there--high school player who is said to be going to Gonzaga? If he does, it will be like having Jabbar and Magic teaming up next year at Gonzaga.
    Book that one.

Hey Mel Kiper of the NBA, Garza is not even projected to go in the first round, lol.

I like your faith in Suggs though...

I thought I heard different? His overall game has improved immensely this year, and at 6-11, he's a number 1 or 2 pick I do believe?

He's a great player but he will never be on the level of Lebron or Luka. A tier below. Maybe if he works really hard he can be as good as Damian Lillard.

Garza not even the best player in The Big Ten.
I enjoy watching Kofi Cockburn on Illinois.
Also seems like a great kid (21) from Kingston, Jamaica.

Hes not even the greatest player to come out of Minnesota in the last 50 years.

David Winfield from St. Paul is in the baseball hall of fame. Played all 3 major sports at the U of M and was drafted in the NFL.

Winfield never played one minor league baseball game. Winfield went straight to the majors from the U of Minnesota.

    Suggs is an excellent player.

This thread is moving away from my contest but I don't really care. I like a good basketball challenge.

Garza isn't pretty and is slow overall, but he works hard, has a smooth touch and this year [I don't believe it yet] he's hitting threes like they were free throws.
He's smart around the basket and knows how to use that 6-11 frame and height, plus, he's at around 260 lbs I think.
He has enough to make a steady name in the NBA, there is little doubt in my mind.

But Suggs is the cherry pick this season. Will he go for the money?
His high school pal from Minnesota is favored to join him at Gonzaga next season. Will Suggs wait and have 1 year with him? This kid could possibly have you forgetting Jabbar and Walton, both?

This physical freak of a 7-footer at 190 lbs. is like something never seen before.
    You don't believe me?
    See for yourselves.

Okay, good choice but never believe--if it turns our Suggs' career is better than Winfields--don't take it personal.
Suggs was Mr. Football & Mr. basketball, his senior year.
Was Dave also that a double elite star out of hs? Mr. Baseball/Mr.Football?

If Suggs goes on the be an NBA all-star, I say that probably gives him the edge over Dave?
    * each new decade brings bigger, stronger, and more mature, physically elite athletes and many--like Suggs-- will be big time stars in the professional level.

It will be interesting following Suggs career. He certainly has great ability and a bright future .

I'm a old guy from Minnesota. So for me Dave Winfield was the best overall athlete to come out of Minnesota that I've seen.

Hey, agewise, I right along with you.
Too me, the greatest athletes are like what Jordan had. Speed, quickness, super jumping ability, great assist man and have body control almost unseen before. and add; a high IQ.

*At this stage of Suggs, he is better than Jordan. Better all-around and much more mature, too.

Get this: Suggs is still a teenager!

I'm too lazy to check and see just what Bo did do that other athletes haven't done?
Like I hinted at, just because you have all the muscles a man can get, doesn't mean you have the 5 priorities I mentioned above.
He was fast and starred in football and probably was too muscular for the [alright, maybe] the sport demanding all those requirements to be the greatest athlete in the world--or the best in the past 5 decades? BASKETBALL.
What I've seen of Suggs--how many teanagers already have skills that Jordan at the age of 19 would be envious of?
A couple, maybe, but not Bo, but not denying him on the football field. Personally, I think Jim Brown would make this list, definitely. And better than Bo, too.

Suggs has a very good chance of being the brightest star on a loaded to the rim, Gonzaga team, and maybe, be the true standout on this team full of future NBA futures, and on to lead Gonzaga to winning the NCAA championship......... as a teenager?*
He's already a combination of Jordan; Cousy; Kobe B.

It's going to terribly interesting to see if Suggs can stay healthy and do what I expect of him.

But not tonight. He has 4 turnovers. I am sure it's because he plays so aggressive, but, not good for the NBA to notice.

When a 19 year old has the athletic ability to do this, you know you have teammate that gives you all he has.
He doesn't have to average 20 pts a night [ 18 tonight] with the assist and floor skills he brings to the table.

Well, one more time. So far, sure, it seems I haven't convinced anyone? But that video above sure didn't hurt his chances. Lol

I see him better than Jordan at the age of 19 1/2.
And I sure don't expect him to go backwards with his skills.
And isn't Jordan thought to be in the top 5 greatest athletes?

    You sound young and cocky?
Cocky goes with inexperience. Being young also goes with inexperience.
So you have excuses that work and I really don't mind that because I was guilty of that minor crime, also.

Hmm, I have to wonder, what will it take to curl your hair?
Oh, maybe, Gonzaga wins the NCAA and Suggs goes top three to the NBA?
