    We can agree on this.

I have cut back on tipping big time.

Do you know if Brock Landers tipped poster JAKEPEAVY to keep his spot in like at the world famous PSOB?

especially stuff like poker, why in the world should i tip the dealer on every pot? over the course of 8 hours on a lower limit table, the only person winning is the dealer, and they are already getting paid to sit there

    haircuts? weird

nobody tips me to do their tax return, or tips a plumber, so why tip someone bringing drinks or cutting hair?

The tip is added in the bill in other countries. You can't avoid paying it like in the US.

Also my biggest fault BY FAR. It does have it's advantages when used correctly. At the casino I tip the hotel VIP check in girls and get regular rooms upgraded to suites all the time.

This is why a rarely play cash games. Every time you win a pot everyone is looking at you waiting for you to tip the dealer. Every hand dealer says “nice hand” no matter who wins, looking for a tip. So you are already giving the casino 2-5% of every pot and then you tip the dealer on top of that.

landers are you going to ohio st/clemson tonight?

or did you just go to new orleans to eat and look at stadiums while they are closed?

can still get tix for about 450 which isn't bad for a playoff game with limited fans

It's built into the price. If nobody tipped, they'd either add it auto or raise prices. The people you are tipping generally don't make shit.

And what pisses me off the most is you pay a percentage of the bill

So a 5star steakhouse waitress gets to make a shit ton more than one at chilis?

    that is my point

i know the waitresses at fleming's are attractive but i eat there all the time and there's no reason they should get $40 extra for doing their job and bringing us some food and drinks, that they didn't even cook or pour

I tip purely on service, and I’m a tough critic. No automatic 20 percent from me. If I get shitty service I tip shitty, yes maybe she is overwhelmed with to many tables ect unfortunately that’s a staffing issue and the restaurant needs to staff properly. I can’t tell you how many times I’m at a crowded restaurant and the waitress or waiter ends up not even bringing out my food. So essentially you placed my order, I had to hunt you down for drink refills and some bus boy or manager brings out my food yah your getting basically no tip from me. Great experience service I’ll tip fat.

The tips are shared between all staff and not just the waiter that brings you the food. The cooks, bus boys, the lady that finds you a table when you walk in all of them share the tips.

yeah i know that, but the people at applebee's are working just as hard and they are only getting 1/4th as much because of the pricing

i think tipping should be based on items brought not $$$ amount

I have printed up little cards that I hand to all my waitresses and waiters

it lets them know that if they don't give ME 15% of the bill I will be going on all the review sites and naming them by name as a horrible waitress or waiter and recommending people don't go to that restaurant, followed up with an email to the manager and owner I have screenshots of my how high my reviewer ratings are on all the platforms. I then put my little tip jar out on the table, and it's up to them to decided if they want a job there anymore by whether they put the $ in the jar or the venmo listed on it before I leave.

Short sighted view. And honestly for all these hardcore republicans who responded I’m surprised. You’re basically having all the generous people support you. If everyone followed your philosophy two things would happen.
    1. People would stop working these jobs or you would get the lowest type of people working these jobs delivering your food. Would you like having some fat slob who looks dirty as penetrate delivering or performing these services for you? The money wouldn’t be there so quality would go down.
    2. These places would have to staff more which would mean prices would have to go up to compensate for this

Boys preaching how much they hate democrats and how they give too much money away but absolutely loving being supported financially by everyone else. Only at sbr does the true loafer not understand how much of a hypocrite he is

Neither one of your points is valid. In other countries where they don't tip the staff looks just fine or better. If anything tipping attracts worse people since so much of the pay is cash (although not so much anymore) or goes unreported so it attracts drug addicts and felons. I actually don't mind or like it even better eating where they don't work for tips. You don't have the fake comments and compliments just before the bill is dropped off or the sleazy judgement or categorization of customers, good or bad, based on what they tip.

Your last 2 sentences it isn't clear who or what you are talking about. Are you saying Republicans in here wait tables? Or are you saying Republicans pay less taxes, which would be hilarious?

One thing I don't like is tipping the pizza delivery guy.

Either what is supposed to happen happens (you get your pizza), or they fail miserably at their job and it's an hour late with dirt on it. Plus in most cases you are supposed to tip online before the delivery so it completely defeats the purpose, but if you don't you have no idea what might happen to your pizza so it's basically a racket.

Went out to Xmas dinner. Had a $174 tab. I tipped a $100 bill (good service and it was Christmas). Received a sub par thank you from the waitress. She sounded like she didn’t even want to say thank you.

Well.... it appears this thread has been steered to Politics. Ugh. Pretty sure this issue will be just as divided. In my anecdotal experience, I've known cheap stiffs on both sides of the political spectrum.

I'll never dine a second time with people who don't tip. I'm not against withholding a tip if service is poor, but in general, I tip. I even tip folks who don't expect it , like janitors in Vegas. It makes their day. I tip because I was raised right, and it feels good. I'll keep "pissing it away," and enjoy my life. I won't be a miserable SOB who wrings his hands over how much I've tipped over the years.
