Starts game 2 of ECF at 7 when up against the toilet bowl in the NFL. No reason to start a conference final so early if it’s the only game.

Seinfeld's final episode wouldn't have dared go against the nfl debut in any opening of a season let alone in a pandemic where we had no pro football until opening day.

NHL also has a game 6 that evening at 8 pm ET.
the start time of 7 pm ET by nba is smart like the poster above said.
They get 1.5 hrs of viewers (you'll watch) before joe Burrow takes on baker Mayfield.

Sports and TV kinda need to stagger these starts to maximize ad revenue
Both networks and leagues are hemoraging money here, and the ad pool is suddenly a zero sum game with limited growth potential

Yup and they've been staggering starts for max viewership / ad rev for years. This is nothing new. We never saw it in nba playoffs v NFL because they never overlapped before.

The best part about it is no one really cares anymore.
Gamblers and Fantasy Players (Most are wanna be gamblers with no cash) and DIE HARD fans of that SINGLE team.
After watching what I watched in the NBA last night and already not being a fan of Pro Sports due to my belief of them getting paid so much takes the integrity and grit out of the games, I don't think I will even watch the rest of the NBA games or really the majority of the NFL games.
These guys are getting paid way too much money. They are more worried about who said what on Twatter and being a bullshit politician than they are at doing what they get paid to do.
That's why Lebron James is 3-6 in the Finals and that's why the Clippers lost last night.

Another example would have been the 1pm game with the clippers and nuggets on Sunday. Two west coast teams tipping off before noon for their fans. They put that up against the worst nfl games possible. I don’t dispute what you guys are saying about the start, but to me it’s just admitting you have a crappy product. At least the nhl is just saying watch or don’t watch and not bowing to the nfl.

Of course all of them are not.
The college kids not getting paid are most likely not going to make it to the pros because they’re not good enough. The top football and basketball players are getting paid.
