Burfict, who is set to become an unrestricted free agent this spring, was quietly reinstated by the NFL last month and is eligible to play
"I'm told he's working out down at Arizona State, his alma mater where his old team coach Marvin Lewis happens to now be running the show, and Burfict is committed to returning to the NFL and playing in 2020 and beyond," Pelissero said during an appearance on NFL Now. "I spoke to Burfict's new agent, Peter Schaffer, who told me Burfict has spent the entire offseason watching tape, talking to coaches, league executives, other experts about the proper code of conduct to stay in the league.
"He is serious, Shaffer said, about coming back and doing things the right way."
Burfict's eight years in the NFL have been marred by controversy but he has demonstrated an ability to contribute whenever he's stepped on the field. It'll be interesting to see what club decides to take a chance on the 2013 Pro Bowler.
in the 2020 season, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
