I think the value is one the over at 79.5. Houston returns a senior QB and most of their offensive line, they also have one of the best offensive coaches in the country. Houston is replacing much of their defense and they are relying on junior college transfers on the line as well as replacing the linebacking corp. Oklahoma has been good no matter who the QB has been, and Hurts will come into the season with something to prove after what happened in Alabama, Oklahoma's defense was horrible last year and they've struggled in the spring. Oklahoma is replacing much of the offensive line, but the new players got a lot of plays last year and they will be at home against most junior college transfers against Houston. Both teams have great offensive coaches that like to play fast, and should be able to wear down these defenses in this heat first game.

Id assume its an OU v Okst or OkSt v TexTech matchup

Would be surprised if over the last 10 years a total hasnt pushed 90 in some of those matchups

Possibly Baylor in the mix as well with one of those teams

Houston’s defense struggled to contain opponents last year, giving up 37.2 points per game, and needs to find a new leader with defensive end Ed Oliver in the NFL after being selected ninth overall. Defensive coordinator Joe Cauthen arrives from Arkansas State with a 4-2-5 scheme that ranked 11th in the country in pass defense and 45th in total defense last year and will be relying on end Isaiah Chambers and All-American JUCO cornerback Damarion Williams to help settle into the new scheme.

Business as usual for some these college teams. I hate playing them this high even tho they do hit a lot. One slow qrtr and it pretty tough to get there. Huge spread so one has to think good chance Sooners call of the dogs late. Certainly not saying I’d take the under, just the things I hate about these crazy high overs.

Teams are going to have to average 3 touchdowns a quarter for the whole game. Which is possible. But i see a lot of scenarios where this doesnt happen. Hurts is good but its still a new system. If houston cant hang, OU starts to slow the pace down and run some clock. Either defense actually got decently better and drives get stopped at field goals. Or missed field goals for that matter. If this was week 2 and we had seen these teams play already Id feel better going over. But with so many unknowns and such a high total I feel good about the possibility of at least one point mitigating factor popping up tonight.

Kinda agree. Hard to trust the offenses to be in high gear out the gates. Some teams were but plenty were not. Doesn’t take much to sneak under and like you said if spread correct and this a blowout going into 4th won’t be much incentive for Sooners to keep foot on gas., On other hand it could be 50s to 30s and wouldn’t shock me. That why I’m passing, lol. Gl
