It is an investment decision. And any wise investor doesn’t make their decision based on the past. But on the future.

I don't consider it greedy at all though. NFL is worst league for athletes since much less guaranteed money deals. Every year we see good players getting cut or waived because the teams don't have to keep paying a player. Careers are short, when you retire at say 35, if youre lucky to have played that long, you have the rest of your life with no income coming in other than a pension who wants to have to work after they've been a pro athlete
