A Mars mission is to far and still a pipe dream. Still WAY to many hurdles to over come.. Space X has some decent rockets but those aren't gonna work.. We humans are still stuck with just getting to the moon.. Even that is still dangerous for humans to go to...

Space is a very dangerous place to be and travel still.. Radiation is no good, micro meteors are no go, no gravity plays tricks on humans is no good for travel and long durations of time.. That's just for starters.. I can go on and on.. Mars isn't happening anytime soon..

For it to happen - Need 2 major things to be invented for starters -

1) Need a space craft that can go faster then what we have now.. Rocket fueled space crafts are not good enough. Need to discover a new propulsion system.. Takes about a year to get to Mars now and that's the best we can do.. Humans can't travel for 2 years in space now round trip with no gravity.

2) Need the Space craft to also basically have a force field around it to deflect the Suns radiation and micro meteor hits..

Last I checked we do not have either.. PIPE DREAM!!! I commend Space X's effort though to try and make it happen.. The newest reverse landing rockets are pretty cool too...

Still it would be a suicide mission if humans were to try to travel to MARS now..

The only known schedule with any hope of making it on time is SpaceX.

They have a plan to send Big Falcon rockets in 2022 to lay the foundation for the crew in 2024. The bet is there, if they can make the schedule.

Other organizations, including NASA and other countries have no plans to get there before 2030's. I think there is a standing Presidential order to get a person there by 2033. Russia plans to get there in 2040-2045.

Nasa will still be using the ISS for space studies in 2024, still preparing for Mars, this is a detailed plan.

Boeing's contributions wouldn't materialize until 2030's as well.

Blue Origin literally has no plans in the works and is in no hurry to take on the project...chime in if somebody knows something I missed.

Space X has a plan and I suppose SBR should keep in touch with Elon Musk, as those plans can easily get off schedule.

The next ideal low energy launch window won't even occur until 2033, not sure what Musk thinks of that or if he cares.

Stop the nonsense that there were no missions to the moon, the evidence is overwhelming. Not only did they deal with the radiation belt problems, we use mirrors placed on the moon by the Apollo missions to measure the changing distance to the moon and to test, among other things, relativity.
