    Texas Tech Campus on Lockdown, Shooter at Large

    Texas Tech University officials said a shooter was "at large" late Monday, as they locked down the campus and urged students and staff to "take shelter."
    The shooting unfolded at the university's police department, the officials said. Officials had brought in an unnamed student for a welfare check when the student suddenly pulled out a gun and opened fire, KCBD reported.

    The university did not immediately confirm any deaths or injuries from the shooting.
    The suspect was described as 6 feet tall and 140 pounds with blue eyes and red hair, wearing blue jeans and a white T-shirt, KCBD added.

    so you brought a kid into the station on a "welfare check" yet you already found drugs/paraphernalia on him and he had a gun on him...obviously someone did not follow procedure on the PD side

    I'm guessing family, friends or faculty called the campus police and were worried about him or state of mind. It does seem pretty messed up that the kid got all the way into the police HQ without being checked for a weapon. Someone screwed up, some mistakes you only make once.
