​Jim Schwartz currently presides as the Eagles defensive coordinator and nothing more, but staffers and a few of the Eagles players seem to be convinced that Schwartz has his sights set on more than just coming up with defensive schemes.

Allegedly, Schwartz is scheming to overthrow the current regime. Some Eagles players and coaches believe Jim Schwartz is "waiting to usurp" Doug Pederson’s head coaching job.

Much has been made of the comments of former NFL executive, Mike Lombardi, after he criticized Eagles head coach Doug Pederson and called into question his qualifications, coaching acumen, and future in Philadelphia.


Alternatively, Lombardi has a positive relationship with Schwartz whom he hired when Lombardi was with the Browns. Though that was some 25 years ago, Schwartz and Lombardi have maintained a friendship, and now that the comments of Lombardi are all over the headlines, some conspiracies are beginning to form.

Some staffers and three anonymous players have even come out and said they believe this is a move Schwartz is championing in order to supplant Pederson as the head coach.
