US/DEEP STATE protects Syria terrorists from aerial bombardment: Moscow

US/DEEP STATE protects terrorists from airstrikes: Russia

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has accused the United States of assisting terrorists in war-torn Syria, saying Washington is protecting the terror groups, including the Takfiri Fateh al-Sham terrorist group, formerly known as al-Nusra Front, from airstrikes.

The Russian top diplomat, as reported by Lebanon-based al-Manar television network, made the remarks on Monday, during a joint press conference with his Ethiopian counterpart, Workneh Gebeyehu, in Moscow, where they answered questions regarding combating terrorism.

Lavrov added that the US sponsorship of terrorists had recently came into light, when it was revealed that the White House helped Fateh al-Sham terrorists evade aerial bombardment conducted by Moscow and Damascus, without giving further details.

He noted that the alleged move by Washington violated all international conventions and laws, stressing the necessity of eliminating double standards and ambiguous ideas in the fight against terror groups.

Back in May, former Afghan president, Hamid Karzai, made similar comments, when he said that Washington had created the Takfiri Daesh terrorist group, another notorious terror organization active in Syria. “Daesh is a US product,” he said.

The ex-Afghan leader added that he had received regular reports of unmarked helicopters airdropping supplies to Daesh militants active on the Afghanistan-Pakistan border.

Lavrov's comments came some eight days after a US Navy F/A-18 Super Hornet shot down a Syrian SU-22, which was conducting an operation against Daesh terrorists on the outskirts of the city of Raqqah.

In two other occasions in June and May, US warplanes attacked a Syrian military position near At-Tanf, killing an unspecified number of people and causing some material damage.

Reports say that many Daesh terrorists were initially trained by the CIA in Jordan in 2012 to destabilize the Syrian government.

In August last year, US President Donald Trump, then a presidential nominee, said that then US president, Barack Obama, and former secretary of state, Hillary Clinton, together "founded" the Daesh terror group.

The US and its allies formed a so-called military coalition earlier in 2014 to fight Daesh in neighboring Iraq, but they later expanded it to include territories in east and north of Syria. Damascus, which itself is busy fighting terrorists on multiple fronts, condemned the decision at the time, saying it violated Syria’s territorial integrity.

The Syrian government has never sought assistance from the West as it insists that Washington and its European allies have helped the surge in militancy in the Arab country by providing direct finance and weaponry to certain militant groups.

Syria has been gripped by foreign-backed militancy since March 2011. In August last year, United Nations Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura estimated that over 400,000 people had been killed in the conflict up to that time.

US strikes killed 500 civilians in Syria last month: Monitor

People walk past a building reportedly targeted by US warplanes in the Syrian city of Raqqah. (Photo by AFP)A London-based monitor says US airstrikes on two Syrian provinces killed 472 civilians last month, more than double a previous 30-day toll.

The so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said on Friday the period between May 23 and June 23 saw the highest civilian death toll in US airstrikes since they began in September 2014.

Observatory head Rami Abdel Rahman said 222 civilians, including 84 children, were killed in the Dayr al-Zawr. Another 250 civilians, including 53 children, were killed in Raqqah province, he added.

The new deaths brought the overall civilian toll from the US-led aerial attacks to 1,953, including 456 children and 333 women, the French news agency quoted him as saying.

The previous deadliest 30-day period was between April 23 and May 23 this year that claimed 225 civilian lives.

The increase has led human rights groups to question whether changes in procedure are responsible after US President Donald Trump shifted more authority over military operations to the Pentagon.

Several former American security officials warned Pentagon chief Jim Mattis recently that civilian casualties “can cause significant strategic setbacks” by reducing local cooperation and providing fuel for Takfiri militants.

American-backed Kurdish militants in Syria have been advancing toward Raqqah with heavy support from US airstrikes since November.

Turkey's defense minister on Friday warned that Ankara would retaliate against any threatening moves by the YPG militia in Syria after US pledge to take back weapons from the group after the defeat of Daesh.

Fikri Isik told broadcaster NTV that a letter sent to him by Mattis regarding the weapons given to the YPG was a "positive step" but "implementation is essential".

Ankara has said supplies to the YPG have in the past ended up in the hands of PKK, which has fought an insurgency in southeast Turkey since the mid-1980s.

The London-based observatory said on Wednesday Turkey had sent reinforcements, including troops, vehicles and equipment into Syria, towards areas south of Azaz town, which is held by Turkish-backed militants.

Turkey sent tanks and warplanes across the border into northern Syria in August last year, carving out a big portion of the area.

Part of reason civilian deaths have increased is because isis protects itself by staying in hospitals, schools. Ect. Isis uses civilians as human shields in the larger sense. Something needs to be done to slow down civilian death toll though

This was one of the reasons i thought he might be a better choice then Clinton.

It sure sounded like he wasn't going to continue the same path in Syria back then.

RR's cited article pretty much jives with what I thought had happened, based on their being no rationale on the part of Bashar to use chemical weapons (and risk the impact of doing so) in a war he was winning....

there was supposed to be some sort of investigation post-bombing; which should have either confirmed or perhaps refuted the details in the blog/article cited by RR..... I haven't heard shit about it.... was it done? has there been a report? who actually did the post-bombing investigation, etc.?

if there was no sarin, that should be easily confirmed. If there was a "bombed out" basement containing all the chemicals cited by the blog, that should've been easy to confirm as well....

who took control of the site? was the investigation done? this isn't f'n rocket science to look at the aftermath and determine whether such chemicals were being stored in the building that was bombed, as opposed to having been a chemical weapon dropped on the site.

Russia proposed for a full investigation to be done, Donker, but the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) rejected that proposal.

That should tell you everything you need to know about who did what over there.

The OPCW only confirmed that the Syrian people were exposed to Sarin, but the actual investigation, where independent investigators from different countries go to the actual site and examine shit, was never done.

here's a contra take on the f'n situation.... i can't believe that we can't get some concrete answers out of this shit from a legitimate investigation..... if it hasn't happened yet, that ship has probably sailed due to manipulation/clean up of the site, etc.....

and if the truth is now incapable of being discovered, that's a crying shame.....

    https://www.nytimes.com/2017/05/01/i...al-attack.html

and, it would be nice to see some transparency to see if the claims in the atricle cited by RR are truthful or not (the U.S. intelligence supporting the non-use of chem weapons)...

simply put, I don't see Trump as having some extreme hardon for bombing syria, particularly if he was being given inforamtion by our own intelligence that the bomb was a conventional bomb that simply blew up a depot containing chlorine, etc.....
