Great hire LOL Barnes is a terrible Xs & Os guy and pretty much has shown he gets nothing out of his talent unless they are once in a lifetime like Durant that you can't F up.

Tennessee will be mediocre for many more years.

I'm not defending the hire at all but this is about as good as Tennessee can do. As far as anyone with an established name goes. I think sometimes these bozos get hired again because if it doesn't work out then the AD has less heat on him because he's not "taking a chance" on an unproven guy, he's got a guy who's been to x number of tournaments and for whatever reason it "just didn't work out"

He still messed that up. He couldn't even get to the second weekend with arguably the greatest college player of the last 10 years.

It's a step up for Tennessee though.

Tyndall was actually a tremendous coach. Got a lot out of his team the last 7-8 years. I mean way overachieved. Ya he made mistake but Barnes is mayb the all time worst

Steve Patterson the AD at Texas is a joke. He once tried to trade Hakeem Olajuwon in 1990 for three guys that were out of the league two years later. Guy is a lifetime loser.

Steve Patterson should be revered in Austin. Mack Brown & Rick Barnes both lived off a couple great years for far too long with mediocre results while BAYLOR started lapping them in both sports.

Texas was supposed to be the bell cow in the Big 12, but they were far from it. They needed someone with the guts to change a culture of mediocrity. Patterson may or may not get the right hire, but at least he was a chicken shit like DeLoss Dodds who was more about being friends with the coaches instead of their boss it seemed.

And let me say, I hate Texas so I would have been fine watching a middling mess continue.
