the Lakers game was under 209.5

18 seconds left, shot clock turned off.....lakers down double digits

Lin steals the ball and makes a layup to destroy the under

yes D2D, teams do not even play defense in that situation
and even when they do , its just going through the motions.

You should always by the hook for that reason.

At least you would have pushed.

"Always buy the hook" is a load of crap.
If you cap the game at over, why buy .5 down to 197. That's a waste of juice.

Because these situations happen more often than not?

Because you would have pushed rather than lose your entire bet?

Why buy the hook and not buy the half point from 197 to 196.5 too then? The difference between pushing and winning is pretty much the same as between losing and pushing at those types of odds. Pretty soon you're buying points to no end. Yeah you want to feel you at least "survived" by not losing, I get it, but financially push/win and loss/push are pretty close when the odds are near even.

And lol at crying fix here. So if burke's 3 at the buzzer goes in the mob loses all their money? Really think fixers would take that kind of risk? Fixed games are generally nowhere near the line I'd say.

The hook is always a ripoff. It is like buying insurance in blackjack when the dealer is showing an ace. It is a statistical loser long term....GUARANTEED.

I am am not sure how people do not see this....especially in basketball.

a bunch of fat men posting bad advice

although I was wrong, you shouldn't always buy the hook

but in situations like +6.5 or +2.5 I will

I personally do not like over/unders

not a degenerate like all you fat men

Spedizzo....it is just math man, nobody going after you. What is all this BS about fat men?

In certain games, and in football (and possibly MLB over unders) there may be a possibility of buying the hook and having it be the right choice.....but this is very rare, and in fact almost statistically insignificant.

It's a desperate tactic to try to regain the upper hand in a conversation by insulting the other person and trying to diminish them.

You see a lot of that kind of stuff on this board.

Can't vouch for anyone else who bashed the whole buy the hook thing but I for one am not in the slightest way overweight. In fact I probably need to put on a few pounds.

Simple math, this isnt football, silly to buy a hook on a total in basketball.
