Detroit and Philadelphia, over 5.5 at +110
Philadelphia plays pond hockey, and Detroit (while they are a very disciplined team) have a lot of talent and a great power play. Philly averages over 7 goals per game total in their games played and Emery (their starting G) has given up almost 3 GPG and actually played quite well (ok, maybe not his save percentage, but in reality he gets peppered with some very good opportunities).
Philly is no slouch on offense as well, and after a sluggish start (which always happens in Philly)they are putting up some numbers. Add to that that Detroit is starting Gustavsson, who despite giving up 2.63 GPG last year, still won 16 games....that means Detroit scores for this guy....and he gives up goals with a modest GAA of 2.63.
I am seeing a 4-3 or 5-3 Detroit win here.
Dallas Stars and NY Islanders, over 5.5 at -125
This line just dropped from -130 to -125 at 5Dimes.
Both of these teams are top heavy and generate a ton of scoring opportunities and have averaged close to 7 goals per game in games they have played this year.
The Islanders are going to want to compete with the Stars 'stars' tonight, look for Tavares to company to press early and often, activating their new found offense from their rear guards. With Anders Lindback in net and Lehtonen on the bench, the Islanders will have an opportunity to put on a show.
As for Dallas, they are another high powered team. With the addition of Jason Spezza, this PP unit will finish at the top of the league this year. At the start of the year everyone thought that Nichushkin would be the x-factor here....but people needed to focus on the Canadian kid that has an opportunity to become an elite talent in the league again. The Islanders are also playing their 'number 2 netminder' in Chad Johnson (no, not Ocho Cinco....he is in the CFL, not the NHL). Johnson has played ok hockey so far, winning his two starts....but neither start was against a team with this potent an offense.
I am not going to guess who wins this game....it is literally a flip 'em in my opinion......but the final could range anywhere from 4-2 all the way up to a 6-4 kind of game.
I laid $500 on both of these wagers along with 500 betpoints on each.
