Hi Fellow Members,
I am 40 yrs old and planning on retiring in ten yrs. I am in the process of buying a house in Vegas right now to rent out for next ten yrs, then living in it from Sep till the end of March Madness. I would then come home to Canada and stay here till Sep and so on. I have been sports gambling since i was 17. I do not use gambling right now as a source of income, but would love to do it when i'm retired. Any feedback on anything would be helpful or just a discussion.

I agree Krit. I have been to Vegas 60 plus times. Have trips booked for opening weekend Nfl(sept6-10), Nov. 8, Jan 10 2015, Feb 1 (superbowl). I have been "around the block" a few times in my life. But i have been saving aside a "Vegas account" since i was 25. So unlike alot so called "pro Gamblers" i do have a plan. Just want to get some advice/input/ideas etc in case i missed something. Never hurts to ask opinions.

I have just started making that transition,,, I shaved 1 day off of my work week,,, and beginning aug ending june I am doing it "professionally".

I think more so its the $$ ammount you use (and if you turn a profit) that determines a professional handicapper,,,

dont martingale,,,
stay disciplined,,,,
be kind to the casino help,,, (tip extra and be courteous) (this can keep you from getting banned and/or let you in on soft lines)
get your mother to open a safety deposit box with her name on it only,, keep majority of your $$ here
get your own safety deposit box,,, keep some here.
stay LIQUID!!!
keep VERY LITTLE DEBT!
report a "fair" ammount and pay a "fair" ammount of taxes
get a concealed weapons permit and wear a gun

An honest, helpful answer to your question would require a huge post and still wouldn't touch the surface. You have so much to learn, so much to unlearn, and even then you may just not have the constitution to be a successful professional gambler.

I'm not saying it's impossible, but know the road is long and conversations are lengthy should you want to be your own handicapper, not solely relying on the work (or lack thereof) of others.

Had highs and lows but ALWAYS had the money/discipline to go along with it. As the years went on i obviously seen it. And i have NEVER paid for a service. EVERY one of my bets is MY DECISION.

I would suggest you learn to make a point spread and money line that is closer to reality, closer to the true odds of an event, than the oddsmakers can make and/or the bookmakers can keep.

I would also suggest you learn how to make the spread the oddsmakers make and learn why the bookmakers settle where they do.

This will go a long way towards being a successful gambler.

for me, i reach escape velocity on my bankroll when i start hitting low 4 figures a game. if i bet 0.5-2.0% a game, then i want a 100-200K bankroll. my outlays become a small fraction of the number of bets i win each month.

also, i squeeze infrequently if i have a high-frequency betting system along with a high EV low-freq one. one provides income, and the other increases bankroll size.

if you have passive income, that might help your cause A LOT

I see these words paraphrased from time to time but no one ever offers any solid advice on HOW to make a spread close or closer than the bookmakers do. The only thing that is said is, you need to create a model.

More detailed instructions or an easier method would be appreciated

Id use sports. Poker. Black jack. Backgammon and roulette. If i was a professional. Im just a amatuer. But i won my best bet sat and sunday. So i primarily didnt play table games. Much.

I assume you did your home work on the renting industry in Vegas? Property management is gonna hit into your
rent income. If the industry is hot, maybe buy more properties?

Doing your gambling for so long, I guess you have a system and money management?

I never set foot in a casino w/o knowing the game I'm playing and have a system for that game.
Throwing my hard earned money away for fun is not my idea of fun. I'm a hit it and quit it kind of gambler.
Time is not on your side in a casino. From slots to sports betting.
