Why Is Canada Suddenly Good At Basketball?

Over the last few years, there has been an explosion of Canadian stars in the NBA.

    What is going on?

There was an article on this last week. Vince Carter had a big influence on a lot of these young Canadian kids that's why they started playing ball.

Its not all of a sudden....What used to happen with high school kids up here is that they would stay in high school for 4 years in Canada then attend US colleges down south hoping to get drafted along with all the other top high school players in the States. But the competition was just too stiff...they weren't used to playing along side players of that caliber....and coaches barely saw them when they were in high school up here...I can remember Pitino and Knight coming to Canada to recruit Jamal Magloire and other prospects...as there was no other way they would get exposure. Now Canadian kids will attend High school prep academies in the States from the 9th grade onward..and live with boosters and in group homes...they play AAU along with all the other American born recruits...as a result the talent is improving....200 Canucks attending division 1 schools this year...
