Running under a 5 isn't world class or something extravagant. Under a 5 on track really isn't out of the ordinary if you are in shape and train for it. So much of the start and get off is form. You get someone to correct your form and you'll shave .1-.3 seconds off your time. I'm sure some of the young bucks around here can break 5.0 flat.

4.5 on the other hand is another story.

4.99 with a stop watch is what an average high school sprinter would run. for anyone over 30 it would be real tough

I think ppl need to realize that their high school coach that clocked them didnt do a good job and would always give you better numbers than what you really did.

100m time divided by 2.5 = 40 yd dash time

decent hs sprinter runs 11.5, which is 4.60

guys here probably on average around 14.5 seconds (30 meters behind the hs sprinter over 100m). so thats 5.8

Bad logic. The start and acceleration take the most time.

well thats what the greatest track coach uses to convert 100m to 40y

of course some stalky powerful guys would have much better 40y then 100m but overall its pretty good conversion

So a decent high school sprinter runs a faster average 40 than the wide receivers at this years NFL combine?

Because the WR average this year was a 4.63.

Let's be real here. Ain't a motherfukker here breaking 5.0.
