    i think they do that in the nfl but not college. when ohio state fell on the ball at nw a month ago they never kicked a field goal.

    It is an NCAA rule to deal with crazy finishes such as this one. Here's the problem: Sometimes fans rush the field when the clock hits 0:00 and when that happens, sometimes the refs would make them kick the XP but sometimes they wouldn't so that created a lot of controversy and could arguably lead to allegations that the refs had a stake in the outcome. So the NCAA made a rule: When a team scores a TD with 0:00 on the clock, and the XP can not matter to the outcome of the game, then the XP is not tried. True story: I had Neb-4 and when that Hail Mary was in the air, I said to myself "even if they catch it, it won't help me."

    They only kick the XP when the game is within 2 pts.

    Funny that last week in the Marshall MTSU game, they didnt enforce it and the game ended 51-49.
