Brooks Robinson was the greatest Oriole third baseman ever ........

Until Manny Machado started playing full time this season, his first full season.

Machado makes every highlight reel play Brooks made at third, but the difference is Machado hits .290, will have 15 homers + and about 60 doubles. Brooks hit .267 mainly on singles.
Machado makes plays at third, twice a night, that other third sackers dream about making once a season, and has a cannon for an arm and speed to spare.

Brooks won sixteen straight gold gloves, Manny will tie that record in 2029.

Having said all that, Michael Jack Schmidt was the greatest third baseman of all time, but in 4 more years, we can put Machado in the same sentence. Freaking guy makes my jaw drop every time I watch an Oriole game.

    ummmm....NO.

Brooks won sixteen straight gold gloves, Manny will tie that record in 2029.
And I'll be happy to book all the action you'd like to get down on this.

Schmidt played better d and hit for much more power, Also Schmidt had a better OBA '.380 to .363. Schmidt got on.base at a higher pct. There was nothing Brett could do except hit for average that Schmidt could not do or better

Brett was a better player. Schmidt was a slugger. He hit more solo homers than any player in history. Also brett had more impact on his teams. He played 7 playoffs in his era. When only 4 teams got in.

Also hitting for avg is the ultimate stat. A player is useless when he gets on base 26.7 of the time. Brett hit .305.

Of Cal's 2958 career starts as a position player, only 667 were at 3rd base. He is, and will forever be, the greatest Oriole shortstop all time.
