First of all, if you go to the counter and say the name of the team you want to bet on, the person behind the counter will automatically know they are dealing with a noob. You never say the team name. It's annoying for the counter person because they have to turn around, read the board and pull the number for you.

Then, if you do say the team name, the person will be even more shocked to see that you are betting $3K. An amateur throwing down $3K?? WTF??

Always get the number first. Lets say San Fran is 224.

If you are taking the money line, you say "224 money line". They will ask for how much. Then say $3000 and lay the money down. If you don't specify money line they automatically assume you are taking the spread.

All this is true. However, who the hell cares what a $10/hr clerk thinks about him? He may be an amateur square, but he has the balls to put 33 C-notes on one game, and the bet will be taken whether he comes across as a seasoned degenerate or a ballsy newbie.

Im not a big sports better.
I use to be years ago but stopped and just played poker when I gamble.

I'll be going to Vegas this weekend (week 1 of the NFL) and wanted to wager a big sum of money.

Now this is a lot of money for me. Maybe not to some of you but to me its a lot.

What is the best way to make a bet without having any taxes involved with the casino books?
Also what is the best website that shows the casino's odds so I dont have to walk into each one to compare.

I plan on putting down at least 3k for Niners -4.5

I dont know a local nor do I want to get involved with one. just the casino books that is all.

I would get a player's card from LVH so that you get points for comps. Don't worry - the information will not be sent to the IRS - only paranoid people worry about that. The only time info is sent to IRS is if you transact 10K or more in a day. The other casinos don't provide any worthwhile comps.

Also with the player's card, your limits can be higher. I've had MGM turn down a wager because it exceeded their limit until I flashed my player's card.

Agree with the 2nd part. LVH wouldn't take a larger bet from me until I signed up with them. I haven't had any problems either. Just talking to other gamblers, have heard people say they don't want all their bets on there if they are killing a certain sport or a certain bet (1st half totals, NBA totals, etc.) Prob just paranoid, but larger bets need approval, so it could be a valid concern.
