Done with online books going Local for football this year

Finally, for the first time since 2004 I'm finally going local. Too much BS with online books. Now I can sit back and relax. If I win, collect weekly, or lose and then pay up. The best part is, there's no more stupid CC or rollover BS that I have to deal with anymore

Or you could get your face smashed in when you over bet and can't pay.

That's why you don't use a 1k or higher account. My weekly limit is $300, more than enough cash for a recreational bettor.

The max in my account is 3 dollars, if I lose that's it until next week. I can get 1k or more but I'm not setting myself up for trouble.

why would locals take so much risk so little?

i wouldn't deal with less than $100 unit bettors.

    Khan good point

Seems not worth unless at least $50 per game

Locals are good only if they are slow moving

I know one that is $200 maximum and $100 parlay cards. He's better than these online books that you are unsure about. Every Wednesday he settles up.

These locals with per head shops pay $10 a week, they need you to wager $200 a week to break even. Also low limits prevent you from sharp money.

How many people here actually use locals? My local is pretty low key on baseball but come football season he is practically soliciting himself left and right.

I've had the same local for 4 years.....takes anything that's listed on Bovada (Lines the same, but instead of juice its all -110, great for Dog bettors)...Also will take futures, props, etc on Bovada for the listed odds

Most of my friends bet football and I know guys that will bet as low as $20 and others that will throw down $500-$1000+ on a game......This local will take anything and has weekly limits both ways for each guy individually

With online books, I tend to keep my balance to a certain amount before cashing out because of the withdrawal hassle from those books. I usually end up blowing all my weekend profit by doing that. With the locals you start out fresh every week at square zero, and can slowly collect your winnings in weekly increments. For me it's a win win, because I got a guy that collects and drop off.

What city you from? Friends or acquaintances that are into sports would be a good place to start....If nothing, try the sports bar and ask around or even a poker/card game if you play at all

Here in NJ (Shore area) there are locals everywhere....If you ask around you're bound to find somebody that knows somebody

When I went to school in SC there were a bunch of locals as well

I heard the South and NJ are historically very easy to find bookies though, so who knows

There's several I know and they pay regularly. I know a really good one that pays on time every week and I pay him what's due if I owe anything. The drawback is that he only has a line and that's it. He doesn't do anything except for football. The other guy I know takes others but his line is always higher than online which I don't like. He pays though which is good.

Never placed one wager with a bookie in my life... and I don't plan on it. To each his own but it's not worth going thru a local.

jjgold I disagree and it depends if you know them or not. You have to get to know who you are dealing with. I have known mine for about five years now. I know a few more that is alright in my book. I only trust the ones that I know that have been in business a long time from here like 5Dimes, DSI, and Bovanda. I see what happened with Bet Islands and they weren't in business that long.

Use to use a local for nascar, but he stopped taking my business years ago. Now I moved and don't know anybody bow to even find a local. and would love to have that choice for football. I'm just average at football so he would probably be very happy to have my business. LOL

Use an online site to actually bet the games - so you get props, futures all that good shit.

When you are ready to make a w/d - you let bookie know and he sends you cash.

When you dip below a certain level you send him cash.

    Works like a charm.

When you mean local book Do you mean he answers the phone? Because if you are betting a local book who is using a online account. His lines are coming from offshore anyways......If you are paying and collecting via the street and speaking to him or his office personally then you are fine...But make sure he or the sheet holder is "Very "reputable.Don't just bet with any JOE you meet or are introduced to..I always want to know who is guarantee's the money...Any shinnangans you should run....."I dont want to hear well so and so didn't pay me or shorted me so you have to wait..have a settle amount and day at all times...No Bullshit..start out small first..I've been betting locals all my life..Sure some have moved offshore..But its the same people who I've been dealing with...
