    Hunter Mahan withdrew because his wife went into labor

    Hunter Mahan was in prime position to capture his first PGA Tour victory of the year this weekend. A stellar second round 64 vaulted him into the lead, and conditions at Glen Abbey in Ontario were prime for scoring today. There was just one problem: his wife Kandi went into labor. The couple had been expecting a baby girl for some time, and Mahan knew he may have to withdraw from a tournament if the time came (Kandi’s expected due date was after August’s PGA Championship). He only hit a few balls on the practice range before his agent received a call from Kandi. Hunter immediately withdrew from the tournament, and headed to the airport.

    who wants to go to the hospital to watch that anyway. just have her call when she and the newborn are ready to come home and try to live park at the front door when they wheel her out. husband or father being there so overrated. doctors and nurses don't want you there taking up space and breathing out germs. maybe if you have time go in after delivery to sneak a peek but other than that why go...

    I used to think that as well.

    But then I was there for the birth of my daughter.....and I'm telling you there is no greater feeling that a guy can ever experience.

    I can't stress enough to you guys that being a dad is the single greatest achievement that you could ever have. (Note I didn't say knocking up some chic and making a baby....I said being a dad.)

    That moment is without a doubt the coolest moment of my life. Not even a close second. It's an experience that can never be replicated.
