MLB extra innings should be replaced with shoot-out like format
Keep the extra innings just for the playoffs.
Replace the extra innings in regular season with shoot-out like system. Something on the lines of home run derby.
Games will get over quickly.
I mean this is a 162 game season and with so many games going extra innings, they need have a quick format to avoid these long matches.

18 innings is like 2 matches...playing more than 6 hours...WTF...this is just so dumb.

It's worse in cricket I've heard, games last days. From a fan's perspective I agree, also shorten the season back to 140, and have stricter regulations during the game to speed it up. But as a gambler I disagree.
Put the last batter of the last inning in second base at least....

If I'm not mistaken the World Baseball Classic added an amendment to extra inning baseball, maybe the States should follow suit, it seems like a compelling argument to prevent such loooonnnggg games:
Extra Innings
For any inning beginning with the 13th inning, the Federation Team at bat shall begin the inning with runners on first and second base. The batter who leads off an inning shall continue to be the batter who would lead off the inning in the absence of this extrainnings rule. The runner on first base shall be the player (or a substitute for such player) in the batting order immediately preceding the batter who leads off the inning. The runner on second base shall be the player (or a substitute for such player) in the batting order immediately preceding the runner on first base. By way of example, if the #5 hitter in the batting order is due to lead off the 13th inning, the #3 player in the batting order (or a pinchrunner for such player) shall begin the inning on second base and the #4 player in the batting order (or a pinch-runner for such player) shall begin the inning on first base. Any runner or batter removed from the game for a substitute shall be ineligible to return to the game, as is the case in all circumstances under the Official Baseball Rules. For purposes of calculating earned runs under the Official Baseball Rule 10.16(b), the runners who begin an inning on first and second base pursuant to this rule each shall be deemed to be runners who have reached first base because of a fielding error, but no error shall be charged to the opposing Federation Team or to any player.
If a team could hit a HR after 9, likely the game would be over.
