Unless you are betting with 50%-100% of your BR, I don't see in even worrying or following the game so closely.
This is people that just cap the games from the lines, A lot of the information I use comes from simply watching the games.

    I watch NFL/CBB/CFB. NHL playoffs.

If people never watched games or knew the "last game/score" they'd probably be way better off in capping games overall.

I can understand watching college basketball and maybe college foots occasionally, but there is no reason to follow baseball, pro sports, or really any other sports. It'll save you years of your life prolly as well

This is good advice. I remember seeing something about a new type of hedge fund where instead of the fund investing in shares of stock or commodities, etc. the fund is based in LV and they just bet on sports games. The fund I saw the thing on is legitimate, it was on 60 minutes I believe Anyways they asked the guy managing the fund if he ever watched the games that he may drop 100 grand on on a night. He said something to the tune of: "I have already looked at the numbers and I know what I think will happen, so why watch the game?"

The only time I ever try to watch a game is if I actually care to see the game (such as NCAA title game last week) or if I plan on betting a 2nd half line and I want to see a team's form the first half.

    Thanks.

On one hand, life is short -- too short to be wasting time capping games and analyzing lines vs. spending time with kids and family.

On the other hand, life is short -- so if you enjoy doing it, do it.

I don't know. Balance. We're all looking for the right amount I guess.

you can piece together games easily with ESPN play by play. Maybe I don't see exactly what happened but after skimming the play by play and then a recap or 2, I'll know just as much as you did if you watched it. A lot of what you watch is useless IMO. Dry betting stats sounds dumb, but it really isn't.

Dude you need to "let it go" as you say. There's too much other important shit in life. I like betting basketball but once that season is over I am out and don't miss a beat. Occasionally throw a few bucks on a baseball game but I could never place another bet and be happy.

thats untrue, you can do this every day as long as you only spend your time handicapping, not watching or following. By handicapping, I mean looking at some general stats and then figuring YOUR line out, if its off by 10 or 15 cents go after it

most modelers/advantage gamblers who bet every +ev play they can get their hands on, have no way to watch most games, if they even care to... a guy like monkeyfocker makes hundreds(400+) of plays on a busy saturday when college foots/hoops/nba is going on...

There are other things in this world that are important. Take a break and don't think about money left on the table. What is money anyway if you don't have people to share it with?
very very true my man. Great advice. In fact you made me realize that is exactly what i need to do " take a little break " but for me i will probably only take about a week break.

I got in a little funk and i was especially devasted that the Orioles and Nationals who i bet on Sunday both got shut out. I just fukking hate it when i bet on a team and they cant score a single run. It happened to me twice sunday.

I need to step back and chill for a minute, get my money right and regroup. Its good to get away from the mental grind of gambling with the roller coaster ride of the ups and the downs... it really can consume you.

now dont get me wrong i love that rush of being consumed by it but its good to take a breather and just relax and enjoy other things in life.

I was extremely disapointed in the Nationals and Orioles on Sunday. Felt like a donkey punch.

That's one of the advantages of being 22 and in college. I don't have a family to attend to and my classes don't start until 12 almost everyday, so I wake up, look at the card, cap for an hour or so, and then head out for the day.
