injuries happen when you train a lot.....I don't get the argument that since it never happened before, it shouldn't of happened.

i'm just saying it wasnt a complete fluke where his ribs just popped for no reason

maia was able to pressure a clinch guy hard enough that he hurt himself
maybe on another occasion kim wouldnt have been hurt, but it doesnt change the fact that maia was able to pressure him in a way that he never experienced

    maybe..but not worth -200
you're basically betting on one guy's strength to beat another guy's strength
I dont remember ever seeing Maia get laid on, grinded out, or out positioned on the mat

I think only weidman was able to lay on maia but weidman is huge and could probably lay on anyone like that

Weidman was able to out-position Maia because of his unbelievable ground skill, not his size; they were both severely gassed, also, but there's no way to know who that benefits the most.

Was maia really out positioned or did weidman just sit in his guard?
i've seen fitch give up his back but maia is usually in a dominant or neutral position on the mat

I know for a fact that Weidman had side control for a while. No idea what other positions he had.

thats what scares me the most
skillwise, i know maia can hang with fitch in the grappling phase
but maia fades and fitch doesnt

In my estimation, Fitch should be at -300.
Penn was able to take him down so dont see why Maia cant. And Fitch isnt exactly Gokhan Saki neither!

he's light years ahead of maia in terms of kickboxing technique and ability. agreed about penn, penn is a freak of nature. that was a good fight. I still think Maia just doesn't matchup well vs. Fitch.

Like I said, he's getting incredibly underrated because of the loss to Hendricks. He's a stylist nightmare for a lot of fighters because he just wears you down with his wrestling and pace.

This is very true. Weidman's a top 3 MW. Fitch isn't a top 5 WW.

Yes, he is. I put him just behind GSP, Hendricks and Condit, and Condit is debatable. Depending on whos "ratings" you go by, most have him around 5th.

Fitch has some of the best if not the best submission defense in the game. Should be an intresting match.

Indeed, but then he's never thought somebody with the submission game that Maia has. The like of Erick Silva, Chris Wilson, P.Thiago, Gono, Ben Saunders, Mike Pierce and Hendricks were never going to be a threat in that respect

Hmmm, I'm on the other side. I was big on Fitch>Erik Silva and a lot of people thought I was an idiot, so I in no way underestimate Fitch's skillset at all. But if this fight had been made prior to that, the odds would have been very different. All of a sudden Fitch is apparently unstoppable, and that simply isn't the case, no one is, and the person best suited to doing it is Maia. Prior to the Silva fight that was pretty much the consensus, but now all of a sudden there's been some collective amnesia based on him beating an entirely different kinda fighter in a favourable match-up.

At 170 Maia is a grappling beast; DHK is much more difficult to takedown than Fitch and Maia got him down easily straight off the bat. Story too, though his tdd is always awful, so that gets little credence other than to show that Maia's gone back to what he's good at. +400 on Maia sub is like a gift from the gods. Your money bro, but I'd at least hedge on the sub.

Fitch is unsubbable like Leben used to be un-ko'able, giving up his back like free shots to the chin; he's getting cocky at this point and basically asking for it.
