Can't blame him. He can always go back to college. It worked out for Saban.

Can't say I am surprised. Not sure how he will do in the NFL.

Very nice to hear. Also a good sign Ducks will soon be hammered by NCAA for rules violations.

I've gotta think if that if he wants to run an offense similar to the one he ran at Oregon he'd keep Vick.....so he'll prolly be back coaching in college in about 2 years

He has some speedy wide outs on the team, so if he's playing the same offense you would think he needs a fast QB

Vick seemed good as gone from Philly...Now he may have a chance of sticking around.

Vick is still gone in Philly. he turns the ball over way to much for the system that Kelly runs. people dont seem to understand that Foles fits his offense. Foles ran highly uptempo offense at Arizona.

Kelly has to make adjustments too you know, he can't run that EXACT offense in the NFL or else he'll have his QBs killed within 2 years.

also wonder what this means now about the sanctions coming down against the Ducks.

As soon as heard the SEC wasn't barred from postseason as he had asked....he jumped ship from Eugene. Why stay at a place with no upside when you can go to the NFC East and have a better shot.

looks like Bradley could take over in Jacksonville - Eagles could be looking for a QB in the draft Geno Smith or perhaps Ryan Nassib. Nassib is from Philly area and would be a good fit. Maybe trade down to middle/late in first round.

This hiring will cause a shit storm on Cleveland sportstalk radio. Kelly was the Browns' #1 target.

It is very questionable whether Foles is a starting caliber QB in the NFL, it is even more questionable if he can run even a modified version of Kelly's offense. Nassib is far more mobile than Kelly. Even a modifed version of Kellys offense will get the QB killed gotta have 2 QBS - I am sure Washington is glad they drafted Cousins

I hope they realize Foles' brain is much more important than Vick's legs when the QB will be the one pretty much calling the plays.

Kid has potential, he's not a lock to be a superstar or anything, but when the offensive line heals up he throws a decent deep ball and has really good accuracy on short throws. Vick made even throwing a simple swing pass look difficult last season while Foles could actually lead his receivers.

Not sure how I feel about the hire. I guess wait and see but I am happy that the circus is finally over.

As long as Howie Roseman is the general manager, this hire is irrelevant

Definitely a surprise but imo this is great news for the Eagles.

"I was interested to hear how (Kelly) did it," Belichick told the Boston Globe. "I would say he expanded it to a different level and it was very interesting to understand what he was doing. Certainly I've learned a lot from talking to Chip about his experiences with it and how he does it and his procedure and all that."

It just goes to show you... don't ever trust what the media says. A couple days ago... everyone said... Chip Kelly was staying... and then today... oops... Chip Kelly is the new Eagles head coach. Unreal.

Not real excited about a flip flopping college coach with no NFL experience. Was much more stoked about Gus Bradley coming to Philly. Will wait and see what sort of staff he assembles, but this still wreaks of Pete Carroll's move and I think ultimately, he will pull a Saban and be back in college in the next couple seasons .. already called him going to USC when their sanctions are over.

Wonder what he is going to try to do?

Eagles have good defensive players. They had no coach and the players quit when Castillo got fired. The right person can make that defense acceptable. That's why I was excited about Bradley. To me the biggest hire they make is a DC.

I think the misconception about Kelly's offense perhaps is that you have to have a QB like Oregon has had, mobile and athletic. But let's look at the team he influenced this year - the Patriots. Tom Brady isn't mobile. It's bound to be more of a tempo thing with Kelly in the NFL and the QBs he currently has available. Unless he goes after someone like Geno Smith in the draft of the Eagles make a poor choice in paying Vick to come back, I think they will adapt with Foles and work a quick pace, not necessarily needing a mobile QB to run it.

I could be 100% wrong, maybe they have a plan to pursue someone else - but about the only thing exciting is that Kelly knows Foles from being in the PAC-12 and he spoke highly of him when Foles was in college. So I am assuming the plan for at least next year is Foles and see if he can run Kelly's system.

I am curious how this will work with the speed of the Eagles offense. If there was a good fit in the NFL for Chip this would seem to be it. This has the potential of being a great hire, or an all out bust. I don't see a happy medium here.

    Yep, must likely. Very unfortunate.
Bradley was a much better option.

it's not about the gimmicky plays they run at oregon, it will be about the pace he can get them to play at. if he can successfully wear down a defense to score like in college, it could change the way the nfl is played.

One of his first hires is reportedly Pat Shurmur as the OC. Ex-Browns coach. Ex-Andy Reid era QB coach. Don't really know what the penetrate kinda hire that is besides stupid.
