sbr don't owe anything but we owe apology. not like apology will do anything to players who lost thousands of dollars.. but the fact that they hide the problem betislands had which SBR already knew about it... just sick

SBR owes us at least that much.
I am certain that most watchdog sites knew there was going to be a big problem in the industry especially with anything Jazz related on or around October 25. Two of the individuals who went down in that sting were the money behind all Jazz entities. The shell game started that day. The software was seized days later. The street and agent money dried up immediately and the lifeline to that activity was cut which cut the cash flow to nothing. Anyone who knew the who's who behind the scenes knew it was coming.

John you know exactly who the "deep pockets" ownership of the site was. This crock about them (BI) feeding you information is BS. You knew very well that this book (and anything else tied to Jazz and the Actionware software used in the US to track bets for these books) took a shit that day (Oct 25) and was not gonna bounce back. You can't play like you don't have your ear to the ground at all times. You are very well aware how money moves in this business and that money was not gonna move any longer to those affiliated.

Come on now. They were on the clock with you that day.

John, isn't your site called "SPORTSBOOK REVIEW", and don't you hang your hat on being a player's advocate?

Who the hell has the responsibility at SBR to be the actual watchdog.

Because they failed miserably. MISERABLY. And it wouldn't hurt for someone at SBR to say "Hey guys, we're sorry we failed you".

Instead, you're crying about being lied to.

The difference? Your pockets are lined with cash from BI. Your posters-- not so much.

SBR, think about what made you stand out to be the most popular forum from all other likes, and you let it ruined in just one day? Is that the direction you want to go??? You will lose more than these BI players lost in the long term.

Hey John are you hiding this morning somewhere? I am shocked you are not responding to some of this.

That is a good resolution here is to send an ipad to some of these members that lost bad because of this. They could use it as a tax write off before the end of the year.

who could use it as a tax write off? gambling losses can only be used to offset winnings. i suppose people could claim it as a "non-business bad debt" which shows up as a schedule d short-term capital loss. max of $3000/year, if i were claiming it i would just write non-business bad debt rather than "costa rica gambling operation stole my money".

It's in another country so you don't know for sure what the tax laws are there now. Yes it is counted as a business expense. The stuff comes from Costa Rica don't it?

Not for the player that is a tax write off it is SBR tax write off.

This should be a wake up call to all that play offshore, anywhere you have $ it's always at possible risk. There isn't any 100 percent safe book out there. I m glad I didn't have $ @ BI.

I agree capitalist on what you are saying here. You just have to go with the ones you have had no problems with. I am just appalled by SBR on this and that may just need to have more time here to figure out what to here. I am glad I had no funds there either.

Should tobacco companies be liable for every lung cancer there is related to smoking? Should guns all be illegal with the shooting that took place?

It really sucks for all that got screwed from this scandal, but ultimately the choice was yours to make to either deposit or not, nobody bent your arms to deposit there and BI wasn't the only book for US customers..

Yeah, as good a businessman as SBR_John is-- and he is, he sucks at being able to control a situation like this. His posts were bizarre, and Dozer and Lou didn't help him. Oh, and Justin. He's hiding.

It was comical. You had Dozer dropping BI's grade to "C" yesterday while BI had already closed up shop. John's common sense prevailed and it was dropped to "F".

But then it got wacky. They decided to let "Jon" post an apology. Serious guys? You thought that was a good idea?

SBR never really apologized for the delay (BandtheBook saw this fiasco with BI a month ago), and while SBR got their money---the angle they used was "we were lied to as well". Really?

I think I'll offer my P.R. services for free, so they can get this issue behind them.

    Rule #1. Don't hide.

Rule #2. See Rule #1, and get out in front of it.

That's not really an accurate analogy.

SBR-- is a site that has earned or attempted to earn its stake by reviewing and recommending to its posting community which books are safe and which are not. They either directly (through SBR's Pro program) or indirectly (contest participation) endorse the books they fly banner ads for.

I think it's a reasonable position to make that if SBR has BI as a contest sponsor, the posting community should expect their money to be safe. And the moment it's not-- inform said community.

    SBR failed on those fronts.

If you want to use cigarette smoking in your analogy, do it this way. If your physician prescribed you to smoke a pack a day for 4 years-- telling you that there is limited risk, and the physician feels so good about the company, that he's letting the tobacco company sponsor his annual office party----and you got sick as a result of that, I would think the doc has some responsibility toward you.

Your right Sam that is the way this should be handled. They may be right now working on trying to get a buyer for this book and I hope that they can get it done. That may be why we haven't heard anything from them so far today.

my point was just that they either knew, or had very good reason to know, back in the november 6th-11th time period. time frame is the only thing i was arguing with, saying they knew for more than a week yet still had them as a B rated book and the banner was still flying even after it was well known that it was deposit only.

i am also curious as to how many deposits they received since november 6th and for how much, that is the only thing that could've really been prevented by sbr.

I totally agree and SBR should have acted then. I think they were being slow about this and they may have been told that it would be handled soon. I still think it should have brought out red flags and they should have put a warning out to players on what was happening.

Solid point, I do feel that SBR was a bit "tame" with their apology. There were literally hundreds and hundreds of post until we heard anything from SBR and I think that was a pretty bad move..

I really feel bad for everyone who lost their money in this scam. It's hard enough to win in this game let alone to even get paid..

I remember SBR having a little banner that said "don't risk getting paid" or something like that and this happens..

I'm sure there are a lot of people who do trust SBR for the books and I am too but not with BI but with Legends.

I hope something positive happens but by the looks of things, a lot of people are going to take it up the butt..

I feel that SBR needs to come out stronger and make a solid point and issue a more of a formal statement and an apology, but other then that what more can SBR really do?

what im saying is that just because there are employee issues, you cant necessarily start assuming there are money issues...im just going by what has been in threads from back then...werent they still paying fine(or okay) up until just a few weeks ago?
