    North Alabama Football Player, Kicked Off Team For Racist Tweet About Barack Obama

    Bradley Patterson was kicked off the UNA football team after the university's athletics director learned of his racist tweet.



    Bradley Patterson, a football player for the University of North Alabama, was kicked off the team after he tweeted a message containing a racial slur about President Barack Obama on Sunday, WAFF reported.
    Patterson sent the tweet after NBC pre-empted Sunday Night Football to show Obama's speech at the Newtown memorial for victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting, in which 20 children and six adults were murdered by a gunman who then took his own life.
    "Take that n***** off the tv, we wanna watch football!" Patterson, whose Twitter account has since been removed, tweeted. Deadspin gathered similar Twitter reactionsto the broadcast interruption, calling their authors "idiots."
    UNA Athletic Director Mark Linder quickly responded, announcing on his Twitter account that the university did not condone Patterson's tweet, and that he was "no longer a member of the team."

    This is exactly why the 1st Amendment was rightfully banned...no way he should have been able to speak his mind and avoid punishment in America.     He didn't get arrested or go to jail....the school have their right to kick him off the team....freedom goes both ways...

    Here's a hillbilly example....if someone was burning an american flag which is perfectly legal....the school would of done the same thing.

    I don't see your point about Quinton Tarantinos new movie....the director has no association with UNA....you might have a point if he was a guest speaker or something like that.

    I'm not saying the school doesn't have the right to boot him, just that its pretty stupid for such a meaningless thing. It's his thought and opinion and a school is supposed to be a place of free thinking and expression correct? He didn't do anything illegal and as long as the team rules don't state 'don't comment on politicians' then whats the problem?

    Just stupid to mess up the kids life over something so miniscule. Not saying he was going to go to the NFL and this derailed it but you get my point hopefully.

    Tarantino's new movie with Jamie Fox is supposedly filled with ' the dreaded N word' and he's a white guy so where is the outcry from the same people who get offended by it any other time? It's just ridiculous from either side. I'll go and watch the movie because its probably, like most of his work, a great piece and I could care less what words are uttered.
