Don't think anyone wants them because they don't have football programs.

They will have to make a new conference or join a conference that was equally as shitty as the big east.

Big East should dissolve. Was always a basketball conference. No point for it to exist now.

They are forming their own conference.

Per NCAA rules if 7 teams of a current conference have 5 or more years in their current conference they are eligible to leave and still retain their automatic NCAA bid.

Per Andy Katz, these current 7 catholic schools are going to form a "catholic/christian conference", extending offers to St. Mary's, Gonzaga, St. Louis, Creighton, and Butler.

That would make a pretty solid 12 team catholic conference.

Good info.. would be some good hoops..
I'd think saint Mary's would decline just based on being in cali.. but I guess that might not be a big deal

That will be a very solid conference. And in 10 years, that will be a major conference, competing with the ACC and big10 for the most tourney bids each year.

Might as well join Memphis and other such teams among mid-majors that only have a hoops program.

You're a screwball. It's as if you have never watched a single sport.

TCU just did it. They joined the Big East for 8 weeks, then left to join the Big 12.

butler isn't catholic and shouldn't be allowed.

any of these should replace them:

    notre dame
    st joseph's
    st bonaventure
    xavier
    dayton
    la salle
    duquesne
    fordham

no way notre dames name even gets thrown in the ring, they just joined the acc.

Im sad to see the big east go. Best basketball conference, i think when nd and Louisville left it was the straw that broke the camels back. They should just rename the acc the big east and make it a super conference.
