    In a weird position with 5dimes

    I have a credit account set up with a local there...


    having a great week this week.. i log in last night after going out and notice my balance is a little low.. i know i lost the michigan game.. but i had an idea of where i should be on the week...


    i look at my history and i have a bet i never made


    $250 to win 711$ or so on a draw between DC united and Salt Lake last night in MLS...

    it lost obviously...

    i contact 5 dimes and they tell me i am responsible for my account and blah blah blah.... They check the ip and say its from Orlando (i live in miami) which is 4 hours away... and its the only wager i have made with this ip...


    i have to talk to my local agent now... I am hopping he believes me as i have been playing with him for a while...

    but this is the kind of thing i never thought could really happen to me..

    i dont even know if SBR can help me...

    I am for sure asking for a new Account number and name.. . but as of now.. I am out $250 bucks..

    If it is a credit account I would be worried about your agent. 5Dimes gains nothing from messing with your account. The only one who gains is the agent who sets up your account.

    yeah i have learned to realize this the more i talk to CS.. my agent is cool and i have known him for a while.. as of now its in his hands..

    i just hope he trust me.. i always pay on time.. and i never bother him..

    its a shit position to be in ...

    its weird that it was only for 250$... i had probably 2k available to me in credit.. but either way it wasn't me that placed it..

    $250 might be the most 5dimes will take on a draw...or maybe it is $500. I think the most I could get down on a side is $500, but it's worth seeing.

    I agree with baskets, or is it that you don't have the money, the guy runs the account and let's you do your thing on credit, or his money, and then you pay him the juice? (Jerry! Jerry! Jerry! Jerry!). That's one complicated gambling triangle.

    Believe it to be that the OP places bets through 5D but they have no financial stake in it. His local pays 5D a certain amount to book his bets, but it's the local who settles with the customer. SO 5D is just the middleman and acts like a pay per head shop in this instance.

Of course change password asap, but also if you have had a good relationship with this guy let him know you didn't place the bet, and 5dimes said it was from Orlando. Either he knows what's going on, or he won't want to lose your business over $250. If he doesn't budge, don't pay. You lose the out, but do you really want it anyway after this? You know you didn't make the bet so you aren't in the wrong.

    I'm doing very similar. Hate all the bullshit in and out of alternatives. Very clean so far but little nervous about open cedit balance and I've got them for a little.

    I keep on saying the security at these books is horrible, for a place that deals with people betting money, you would think they would have decent security setup. Like all my online banking sites, if I try to access my checking account from a friends house, the website will tell me it doesn't recognize the computer and will ask me security questions that I already setup. WHY THE FUKK CAN'T THESE BOOKS DO THE SAME! I guess they don't give a shit about your security, if someone logs into your account and places a bet with all your money and it loses, they don't give a shit, just more money for them. The only time they would care is if enough customer accounts were getting hacked into and people were leaving, thus bringing down business.

    If a book could setup decent security on their website and was rated B+ or better in the SBR Reviews section, I would jump to them in a second. Also, don't you love how 5Dimes live chat asks for your account number and password every time too? So unsafe, if you have a keylogger on your computer it will capture that and send it back to the hacker, guess what? Now they can login and do whatever they want.

    Seems like 5Dimes has horrible IT guys, their website slows to shit during heavy betting times like it did yesterday and website security is an F. For the amount of money they must make, you'd think they would spend some on hiring decent techies to upgrade their systems and website.

    If this agent knew you account info, you can bet it's him. He probably logged into your account by accident thinking it was his or somebody else and placed the bet. That would make sense because if somebody really hacked your account and wanted to fukk you over, why not bet the entire account balance on some prop with a +5000 odd or something, something they know would almost certainly lose. Doesn't make sense for someone to hack your account and just bet $250......guarantee whoever placed it thought it was their account or something.
