Goog vs AAPL - I'll bet you GOOG closes higher than AAPL
..by the end of the year.
In pre market AAPL is $680 and GOOG is $660. So I'll give you a $20 head start.
The bet settles st the end of the last trading day of 2012.(regular session)
The bet is +100(even money)

I assume we reaggregate shares in the event of a split? There is talk of an AAPL split so they can join the Dow.

Good news for Apple’s investors: the company revealed today in its third-quarter earnings that its previously-announced dividend will be paid out to investors on August 16, 2012.
This is the first time the company has paid a dividend to its shareholders since 1995. Apple announced the $2.65 per per share dividend offering back in March, which, along with a $10 billion stock buyback, was a way for the company to lighten the load of its $100 billion cash war chest. Apple needed to do something with its cash to appease investors, some of whom were worried the company wasn’t properly taking care of its shareholders. The company said it planned to spend $45 billion of its cash over the next three years on these plans.

AAPL has had a great run this year up 77.46% in last 52 weeks, and 63.76% this year compared to GOOG 30.5% last 52 weeks and 5.07% this year.
So now I will spend a portion of the day trying to figure out why you like this, because AAPL even though it has been on a great run is still reasonably valued, and it is likely that all the Apple product followers will buy Iphone 5s when they come out.
Motorola did not add much to GOOG in Q2, and it distorts GOOG's profit ratios and comparability to earlier periods because of the high relative costs of MOT to the rest of GOOG products.
On Squak Box they are saying that the saying the ruling impacts Samsung more than GOOG, an it was changes Samsung made to the phone and not really to GOOG - Android.
More to follow when I can think about this some.
And just to confirm - we will eliminate the effect of any stock split in the determination of the winner, right?
Uhh, not the sharpest guy around but I believe that dividend is already priced into the stock and will not count for this bet.

It's not aapl +20, it's straight up. But it's like the game is already started and apple is up, 680 vs 660.
when stocks are over 600 a piece..20 Dollar head start is nothing..

did some thinking most likley swings are plus or minus 15% (yes I realize larger swings can happen but historically swings larger than this are more rare over time)....so 510-690 is the high probabilty close for both..and those two will in general be HIGHLY corelated to move together in whatever economic climate is out there..so
20 pts out of 180 is significant EDGE plus ROI!!!
I agree but the way these stocks move 20 points is erased in a couple of hours. Since I posted the original post its narrowed 13 points.
I think the market is over valuing the smartphone and undervaluing goog's main revenue engine hence goog will outperform. But we will see.

It's gonna be close because fundamantal analysts have GOOG stock pegged for around $720 by the end of December. But that could spill over into March 2013 as well in which case SBR John is fcuked.
Apple Inc. pretty much is undervalued and if the hype around the new iPhone5 and mini iPad isn't justified this stock should still be priced in the $715 range. We can definitely see that from Apple Inc. by December of 2012.

the ipad mini is either going to flop or cannibalize the regular ipad.
the dark horse will be the 13" retina macbook pro.

lmfao it is kinda funny. however, samsung is getting the best yields so far. sharp should be able to get good yields as well, wouldn't want to get the lg screen. been hearing too many QC complaints about the 15" lg retinas.
